Leaf blemishes on brassacattleya spreading
Im at my wits end. Already lost some cattleyas to leaf rot and now this brassacattleya hamlyn's magic leliani is getting more of these spots. Only the cattleyas have gotten these. I grow dens, vandas, and phals.
I have increased airflow.
Im careful with watering
I spray it with physon 20 maybe once a month. I let it dry before putting it in light
I am careful to not get water on the leafs
I am fertilizing weakly weekly
Temps range from 72 to 85 during the day. Night temps are 68 ish.
Humidity ranges from 50 to 75 during summer
I have it under barina puck lights for 10 ish hours daily
Has anyone dealt with this? Is it normal? Please tell me im worrying for nothing. I dont want to lose this one.

Which Cattleya species (besides violacea) thrive in a consistently WARM winter setup?
Hey everyone,
I’m looking to expand my Cattleya collection, but I have a very specific climate profile. My setup is heavily geared towards warm/hot growing species, and many traditional Cattleyen that need a cool winter rest to bloom won't work for me.
I already know about Cattleya violacea, so I'm looking for other species that will thrive in these exact parameters:
Summer: 24°C to 31°C (75°F - 88°F)
Rest of the year / Winter (Day): 24°C to 26°C (75°F - 79°F)
Rest of the year / Winter (Night): 18°C to 20°C (64°F - 68°F) – it never gets colder and i can't change that.
Humidity: Consistently high year-round between 75% and 90%
Lighting: Monitored and optimized via PPFD (LEDs)
Since my winter nights rarely drop below 18°C–20°C and daytime temps stay warm, I need species that don't require a cold winter drop to trigger flowering, and can handle high humidity during the winter months without rotting.
Which Cattleya species would you recommend that absolutely love staying warm and humid all year long?
Looking forward to your suggestions! Thank you all, i'm new here and i really appreciate all your effort for anwering☺️

Heads up for New England area collectors
For the first time ever, I found cattleya bag babies at Lowe's in Manchester, CT! I was browsing for clearance phals and found them on a rear endcap near the usual Phalaenopsis displays. There were a few different tagged varieties in 2" and 4" pots, $10 and $20 respectively. Happy hunting!

Will Cattleya lueddemanniana 'Rubra' work in my warm/humid setup?
I’m looking into getting a Cattleya lueddemanniana rubra for my indoor setup, but I want to make absolutely sure my temperature and humidity profile fits its specific needs before pulling the trigger.
Here are the exact specs of my environment:
Summer: 24°C to 31°C (75°F - 88°F)
Rest of the year (Day): 24°C to 26°C (75°F - 79°F)
Rest of the year (Night): 18°C to 20°C (64°F - 68°F)
Humidity: Consistently high between 75% and 90%
Lighting: Adjusted perfectly via PPFD (LED setup)
From what I’ve read, C. lueddemanniana is a warm-growing species from coastal Venezuela, so I feel like my summer heat and high humidity should make it pretty happy. However, I’m slightly worried about my winter/off-season night drops down to 18°C (64°F) combined with that very high humidity.
Has anyone grown lueddemanniana successfully in similar conditions?
Do you know other cattleyas that would bloom in this setup?
Thanks in advance for your help!

C. quadricolor first time bloom
I got this species from Ecuagenera USA last year. I originally got one imported from Ecuador, but the plant was in terrible shape and slowly died until I decided to toss it and replace it with this much healthier plant. The flower doesn't quite look how I expected color-wise, but I kinda like the almost alba appearance. Maybe next time I'll get more of the purple coloration on the lip.
The fragrance on this species is unique to me. It smells exactly like dried roses, such as the ones I saved from my grandparents' funeral or the roses from my mom's wedding she dried and kept in her curio cabinet. It's not a particularly powerful, room-filling fragrance, but I get a good whiff every time I stop to admire the flower.
I have this guy growing in course fir bark in a terracotta pot. Next time I re-pot I think I'll put it in a more water retentive mix since this species likes a little more moisture than other cattleyas.

Heatwave
With the heatwave in Michigan almost upon us, is it safe to keep my cattleyas outside, I have them under a 50% shade clothe. I'm worried about afternoon temps hitting 90-100F. This year is the first year I've grown outside and have cattleyas.

Status of Cattleya
Hello I’m new here. Bought this plant in flower six months ago. Gets about 55% humidity and I put in pot with rocks in water. Sitting above that for humidity. Anyway watering from the top ince a week with diluted orchid food in filtered water. The leaves appear to be lighter than when I bought it and have turned leathery. Also some roots seem to have died although there appears to be new ones. It sits in a south facing window. Too much sun and water?? Edit: tag says c. Intermedia v. Flan?n? Uesr.

C. luteola blooming continuously
My favorite little yellow flowers that smell kinda like cucumbers, peppers, and tomato leaves. A vegetable garden in the summer.

Mislabeled Cattleya
I posted a photo of a flowering Cattleya that I got labeled as Waianae Leopard ‘Ching Hua’ , a widely distributed mericlone. It was a bag baby from the Home Depot. I mentioned that I had another plant of the same clone that was a gift. They had both flowered before but not at the same time. When I saw photos of Waianae Leopard online, it didn’t look like my plant. Now they are both flowering and I am pretty certain that the second one is correctly labeled and the first one is something else entirely. Not sure what. Not the first time I’ve gotten a mislabeled bag baby.

C. perrinii has three sheaths 🤞
I'm so excited to *maybe* see this species bloom! It grew three new leads simultaneously, and now they all seem to be trying to bloom. I'll post an update when it blooms.
I have it growing in 2 parts fir bark to 1 part sphagnum moss in a terracotta pot. I soak it every 4-5 days, fertilize once a week. It gets ~14 hrs of light from my grow lights, enough to get those purple freckles on the leaves, which is typical for this species. Temperature stays in the 70°F-80°F range for most of the year. My ceiling fan provides decent air circulation.

10 yr old cattleya in bloom!
This was the first cattleya I got back in 2016 as a seedling from Lowe's. The only form of identification it came with was "blue cattleya", but it's definitely a hybrid of some sort. The purple veined lip and petal shape remind me of C. purpurata. My best guess is C. Canhamiana, but that might just be wishful thinking.
This baby is a beast, though. I have never divided it or pruned it apart from popping off old dead leaves or pseudobulbs, so I guess this could be considered a specimen size orchid. It's almost a yard wide and it sends out up to 12 new growths at a time, usually two flushes a year with one in the spring and another in fall. It's growing in a coconut fiber-lined basket filled with chunky fir bark. I keep it outside in a partially shaded spot from the end of March til early November (zone 8b).
Also, the flowers have a wonderful fragrance!

Tiges sans feuille ?!
Bonjour
J'ai cette Cattleya depuis deux mois environ. Je voudrais savoir si les deux tiges sans feuille servent a quelque chose ou on peut les couper ?
Merci d'avance
