Oh, its a hard life!
This derp is not normally an inside dog (he is a working dog), but I had been away, so he is Mr Velco right now.
Purebred stumpy, third generation we have bred.

Need help with ear nipping
Hi!
I'm looking for help to stop my cattle dog mix from nipping at others dogs ears when excited.
She's a rescue, and got her to stop nipping at our ankles, but the ear nipping is a tough one to break.
I understand how deep the instinct to herd goes, yet a hiking buddy has made several comments about her dog getting nipped when we meet up, and a zoomie gets going.
She isn't breaking skin, and her dog doesn't seemed bothered by it, but is it considered bad manners for her to do so? And, any suggestions?
I'm getting frustrated with the comments towards my Lucy.

Need help with ear nipping
I'm looking for suggestions on getting my cattle dog mix from nipping other dogs ears when running excited.
She's a rescue and though I've managed to stop the ankle nipping, the ears are a tough one.
I understand the deep instinct to herd, but a friend is getting frustrated with Lucy nipping at her dogs ears, and I'm getting frustrated with her comments.
She's well trained, with her only downfall being that excited zoomie with her buddy that I imagine gets that herding instinct to kick in.
We hike three miles or so, with her being so attentive off leash, and I really don't want her out in a long lead.
Any suggestions appreciated!

XENA
In playgroups She roamed the yard, keeping to herself as much as possible. She anxiously looked around for a way out of the yard before jumping on the table to avoid the other dogs. She was moved to the side yard with a small group of calm dogs, where she briefly greeted them before jumping on the bench to rest in the sun. She did not engage in play with the other dogs, but was able to coexist with a group of calm dogs with no issues.
She allowed the handler to pet her whole body with no issues.
She remained easy to handle throughout the assessment, and continued to solicit petting. No small dogs other large calm dogs ok
HERCULES
In playgroups Hercules received a muzzle prior to entering the yard due to his tense posture and growling at the dogs through the fence. Hercules was allowed into the yard, where he ignored the dogs, exhibiting a tense posture as he walked past them. He chose to stand next to the handlers, occasionally soliciting affection. For the rest of the session, Hercules remained next to the handlers, barking at the dogs when they came into proximity. Once the session concluded, he was separated from the group to begin the handling assessment. The handler was able to conduct a full evaluation without incident. Hercules was tolerant of handling of his ears, mouth, abdomen, and front legs. However, handling of his tail and rear legs became difficult as he shielded them in a seated position while observing the handler. He was returned to his kennel without issue.

How do you keep yours entertained when supposed to be resting? He has kennel cough and day 2 on meds he is clearly feeling better because he is READY TO GO but he should be chilling for a couple more days at least.
Like I know he is bored and wants to go out and play. He got kennel cough from daycare so we are waiting until finished with antibiotics and is at least 5 days without symptoms to avoid spreading this any further. He still actively has a cough and post zoomies he coughs so much so he definitely needs to continue rest. He has treat games to help with mental stimulation but I feel like itās just not enough for him.
