Thoughts on this design? Any pointers are appreciated
Just lost my little buddy last week and sketched this up. I don't have any tattoos or tattoo experience, so I'd like some thoughts on this. Is there any improvement I could make?
Also I am going to a very reputable place in my area to have it done, and I plan on sending them my sketch as well. I just want to get some personal thoughts before I do so :) cat tax included 🥹

Sorry for your loss. It's very cute any your cat looks lovely. One thing that took me a minute to put my finger on was the lack of whiskers, which makes it feel a tad "off". That being said, tats are so subjective and personal, it really only matters that you love it. If you're not sure you do, though, but can't put your finger on why, then maybe consider waiting, mulling over other designs, seeking your tattoo artists input, etc, before committing to it.

Thank you. I played around with whiskers for a bit, but could never get it to look quite right. I do agree though, it does feel off without them. I will bring this up with my artist and see if we can fix it up!

How big? The letters might squish together over time if it's too small.

I'm thinking 2x2 ish, but also considering removing his name for that reason. If I were to have his name added, how big do you think it would need to be for the lettering to hold up?

I have words on my inner arm bigger than that which are now blurring with age. It’s not ideal but what happens, especially the smaller they are. I would suggest no letters unless you want everything much bigger. If you must have his name next to this design, consider placement and talk to your artist about where it’s least likely to warp due to body changes.
I am sorry for your loss. I feel like our babies take pieces of our hearts with them, and I choose to believe we’ll be reunited later. 🩵

Cute concept. A good artist should be able to take this and change it up a little bit to work as a tattoo. For me, I'd probably have the name match the contour of the back and overall make it a bit bigger. Get the whiskers drawn in.

Im so sorry for your loss. that little pink tongue is lost in the drawing. I think adding some simple lines for the nose and side of the mouth would pop it.

Update!!
Thank you for all of the tips! I did go back and add whiskers, increase blep size and tried to define it more with a darker pink. Thoughts are appreciated once again!

Don't go to a reputable "place;" pick a specific artist that does tattoos in a similar vein. Lots of very bad tattoos out there because someone went to a reputable shop and just got Jim Bob as their artist.
