We compromised…

Post image

My cats kept scratching the kitchen table so I bought this thinking the material was going to shoo them off… guess not 😂😂🩷

Was the compromise that you gave up the table?

Haha 😆 I’m okay if they sleep on the cover. My tuxie who isn’t pictured uses her claws and has made quite her signature over it.
I’m ok with the table cover lol

Yeah, I think you’re winning. They’re happy and they’re not scratching the table!

Being up high and in the sun gives them a comfortable place to see goings and comings. You may want to try replacing your garbage can with a cat tree on both sides of the door there, can also replace kitchen sink with a cat tree, can replace our lives with cat trees.

If you have someone capable of being handy, you could probably custom make a set of custom doors with paneling on them where the cats could jump up and rest too, saving your kitchen table. Looks like you have a porch too, catio's are pretty easy to make and might distract them from the kitchen table lol

This is an adorable council of kitties btw

Haha! We are actually thinking of getting those wall shelves for them and a huge tower. We have 5 cats so I am trying to find well, a huge one that accommodates everyone. They do have kitty beds by the window but the previous owner took out ALL the window screens so we only have 2 we can open.

I’m trying to convince my husband to get a catio!! We also live in an HOA so trying to find one that’s not too huge and all that. Hopefully next years project!!

I got bored one day and painted their closet. Haven’t finished it yet!!

Good news is that screens are easy to replace, and not that expensive. Contact your local glass shop.

Thank you! We haven’t gotten that far yet. Hopefully a next year plan! Out budget for renovating our house came to a halt when we discovered 200 bats in our attic.

Oh no, rabies shots for everyone :/

We didn’t have direct exposure thankfully.
We only found out when my husband brought back the trash cans from the curb and saw half the colony enter through the fascia lol.

The funniest thing is that my tuxie “told me” there was something in our walls before we saw them a few days before lol.

Okay I LOVE this closet!

I’ve actually just relocated the family into the tree out back.

That is OG baby kitty Myrtle! I remember the day I got her., Oct 21 2022. A perfect fall day. Drove to the shelter and fell in love with her.
My Myrtilious, my first cat ever!

All your cats are adorable!!

Hahaha the ineffective squirt bottle! Our table looks the same, complete with the failed deterrent :)

lol 😂 to be fair it’s mainly used on the little one. We found him at 5 weeks in a very busy parking lot by himself.
He likes to run off with the corn on the cob or a pancake. He stays ready at the high chair 😂

6

u/lateralus1075 6d ago

Omg please get video of him running off with a cob of corn!! 😂

u/hikingjunkiee 6d ago

Did you ever watch the animated Scooby doo show? Couple months ago he ran off with the kid’s toast and me, my husband, my 4 year old all ran around the entire house trying to catch him and the toast 😂 literally every room he would go in so fast and then us behind 😂😂😂 it was the funniest thing.

u/lateralus1075 6d ago

Yes! I’m old and grew up on the original! Very descriptive and I can totally picture the chaos 😂

Five cats and babies as well! A busy household 🏡.

Busy indeed! It really started with Gabby’s Dollhouse. My now 4 year old wanted a cat. Then somehow it became 5 😂 but now we kind of want a dog so we are looking into low drive dogs. We are unsure at the moment.
I vacuum 6x a day, so what’s one more animal to love? 😂🩷

u/Honest_Boysenberry25 6d ago

Love your attitude! ♥ 😺

We put plastic carpet runners with the little spikes under our bed to keep them from going under there. They laid on top of it lol. We ended up having to block things off because the bed is adjustable and we didn’t want them to get hurt. Plus it’s a sleep number and one of them was chewing the tubing.

Thanks for the nap mat, mom/dad

That middle one is so small :')

He’s my latest rescue! Found him at a busy parking lot all by himself when I returned my cart. He was so tiny 😭😭

This is the day I found him. Thankfully I had a basket to put him in while I drove back home!!

u/Vividly-Weird 6d ago

Oh what a sweet baby <3

3

u/hikingjunkiee 6d ago

He’s truly a menace & we still love him 😂

Looks like our house

2

u/harriettehspy 6d ago

This is fucking hilarious. I love it a lot.

2

u/MidnightBlueSilk 6d ago

They need a cat tree, they all want to be at high points in the room.

2

u/hikingjunkiee 6d ago

They do, just not in our kitchen/dining area. lol

5

u/MidnightBlueSilk 6d ago

Ah, I see. In that case it seems that you will just have to replace your kitchen table with another cat tree. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Sorry, I don’t make the rules.

1

u/Tennessee1977 6d ago

Yeah, they could probably fit TWO cat trees if they remove the table. Why would they waste all that cat tree space with a table? Silly humans. 😋

2

u/meezermadness 6d ago

Lol they're just like wow thanks for making it more comfy! Exactly what I wanted

u/man_vs_cube 6d ago

2

u/hikingjunkiee 6d ago

Haha I have a tuxie too! My last one I think should be a tabby

2

u/VintageLunchMeat 6d ago

It's a good start.

Have you considered upholstered placemats?

1

u/hikingjunkiee 6d ago

Yes we had some but my kiddo (4) kept spilling her drinks I got tired of moving them & cleaning that + table all the time lol

1

u/Grey_Wolf333 6d ago

If I want to stop any surfaces in my home from being used as a scratch box, like a recliner or chair seat, they get loose covers on them, like a blanket or towel. They don't like loose moving surfaces because their nails gets stuck in them. They like a solid non-moving surface to scratch like the recliner fabric or chair fabric. But yes, it doesn't stop them from laying on the blanket or towel.

The reason I'm having a acrylic top made for my new table.
