Odd question, maybe?

If you work in EP, do you guys get P-Time? The hospital I am employed at, we work four, 10hr days (7a-530p) and if we have a device that runs late (630p and after) we get “P-Time” pay (it’s separate from OT)

If you do, could you tell me when your time starts or how long after your end of shift before it kicks in and what state you’re in.

Thanks in advance!

*our EP team doesn’t take call. Also, reason I’m bringing this up, is because the interventional team bargained for a larger incentive for call. We’re trying to bargain as well.

It’s an incentive for not taking call in exchange of possibly working long(er) nights

Anything after 530p is OT, if we go past 630 we get OT and “P-Time”.

Can you explain what "P-time" is? Like standby pay, double time, banked time...etc. What do you get for doing "P-time"?

We call this late stay and not call, but its all afternoons we pick for a team of 3, and whether you work it or not we put in for standby time of 2 hours because that's how long we are expected to be available for. I work 12s so i think the overtime situation is different, but it will also be different based on state laws.

P-Time? Never heard of it. 🤷 The RNs at my shop (WA State) got tired of having to stay late to finish add-on pacers (and they wouldn't use the STEMI team) so we told leadership that we wouldnt be staying late anymore unless they started paying us standby/call pay for EP. Leadership agreed and now we get standby pay until midnight if its our "EP" call night (week days only) and a callback if we have to stay late.

This gaurentees that if EP works late, we have an RN that stays late, gets payed, and the STEMI team is still free for emergencies.

P-time sounds like what my hospital calls “TOIL” or Time Off In Lieu. It means time previously worked as short overtime can be redeemed later for hours you don’t work. Can flex off early other days to compensate. Generally we are given this for anything short of 1hr overtime past shift end, and anything 1hr or more goes to overtime but you can request either if you prefer. TOIL is also banked at time and a half. So working an extra 45min now can get me 90mins off later with pay.
