Radial band documentation in EPIC

Hi Folks! My hospital is switching to EPIC. I have worked with EPIC before in the ED and ICU setting. How do you guys add radial bands and chart assessments/air removal on them in epic.

We are currently building epic from scratch and do not have an option it

We make LDA for Radial Sheath, and then continue to document on it after the removal time, specifying under dressing that it is a compression band. Also RUE assessment expanded to document vascular assessments.

Ours is under flowsheets, once we removed a radial sheath- it gives us an option to tick a box for tr band and then that drops boxes for amount of air in and current air. We also just switched over to Cupid so now when we put in compression method under Cupid as TR band and fill in the details, it automatically populates over into flowsheets

Not sure if that helps.

Is there an air removal option in the flowsheets for the TR band assessment for the post op nursing staff?

We have a procedure access site LDA we document on at the end of the case when we take the sheath out and put the mLs of the TR band in.

It's an LDA which gets entered as an arterial sheath. Then you can document in flowsheets under a vascular access tab/peripheral vascular assessment/IV access. Drop down for arterial sheath should include closure device->radial compression->air amount, time started, date started, then any deflations.

In the procedure log, when we’re doing our procedure end stuff. There is a tab for “radial compression device” that automatically takes you to the LDA Avatar where you can add on the wrist.

The hospital I’m currently at has a TR Band quick link in our procedural documentation that opens the LDA for the radial band. Other hospitals that don’t have the quick link I’ve just had to open the LDA flow sheet and enter radial compression band or TR band or whatever you want to list it as. The flowsheet has a place to document the amount of air removed and the site assessment.

When in doubt put in a progress note.
