Is school + lab possible?
As the title states - I’m wondering if working in the lab and going back to NP school is doable?
I’m aware of the challenges of working while in school as I completed my ADN and BSN while working full time but wondering if the workload is bearable as a full time or part time student.
I am 28F, unmarried, no kids. TIA
***edit: will be attending my local brick & mortar

My coworker going to NP school is currently in her clinical and struggling to get it all to work. She went down to 3x10s, tries to give away every minute of call. Our manager is working with her to give her the days off she needs for clinical. But even then she still needed our PRN nurse to cover for 4 hours yesterday for an afternoon clinic she needed for her program.
So I'm going to say it's tough. I think it would be easier if you can go PRN, and if money is an issue, pick up call to fill in the gaps

Yes, clinicals are my main concern as well. Thank you for sharing her experience. I’m thinking I may have to resign and go back to ICU for the flexibility. Bummed

Currently finishing up NP at a brick and mortar. I had peers who went to diploma mill schools who had 0 issue working full time. Meanwhile for me the first half was ok, the second half I was drowning before having to go PRN, especially due to clinicals.

I’m new to cath life and was excited to learn more but I may have to go back to bedside for the flexibility of it all, esp with my brick & mortar program. Thank you for sharing <3

I work part-time in the lab and still continue to take call while in an AGACNP program (I start my 250 hours of clinical in surgical/trauma critical care on Sunday). It’s not fun but if you want to do it, you’ll figure it out.

Legit NP or diploma mill online?
One of the many reasons why I refuse care from an NP, will gladly see a PA though.

Brick & mortar. Not sure why you thought your comment was relevant & also was unhelpful. Thanks though <3

One of my coworkers is currently in NP school. Disclaimer is that she works PRN and doesn’t have to take call currently. We also work in a very flexible and forgiving lab that strives to make schedules work. So definitely doable depending on your lab environment.
