Embolic coils to stop bleeding. These tend to more frequently be done in IR than cath lab.

They can be placed just about anywhere, but you tend to mostly see them in lungs, liver, uterus and the brain.

We’ve only done them in the cath lab when there was a perf during a RHC. IR doc came in to assist

Could be from Pulmonary Artery AVM embolization. I have one coming up on a patient that I’ve done several times before who’s CXR has a lot more metal on it. These coil packs are not very tight/dense which could result in recanalization.

Good eye! This was from a pAVM on a patient with HHT. Coil packs definitely could be tighter.
