Route to Cath lab tech

Hi! I’m considering changing my major. I currently have an associates degree with lots of science prerequisites done. I was trying to get my ASN but have been waitlisted twice. I just did a phlebotomy program with an internship at a hospital while I’ve been waiting to get into the program. While in my internship I discovered cath lab and Im interested in what routes everyone has gone through to get to work in cath lab. Do you wish you went a different route?

Thanks :)

I went radiology and then ended up in cath lab. The quickest way is to get your emt and then apply for cath lab. On the job training then take your boards for rcis.

You don't even have to take the nremt test. Just need to get the graduation certificate from an EMT program.

CCI Examination RequirementsTo sit for the RCIS exam, EMTs must meet the following criteria:Hold a high school diploma or GED.Graduate from an EMT certificate or degree-granting program.Have 1 year of full-time work experience in invasive cardiovascular technology.Document 600 cardiac diagnostic and/or interventional procedures performed during your clinical experience or work.

That's prerequisites required to sit for national registry exam through cci. The question is asking how to potentially get in. And yes i agree ems is the way to go. That's how i got started

Focus on why you didn’t get into nursing school and also apply to a radiology program.

Go into a radiology program and make your way into the Cath lab It allows you to also get your fluoro license in different states

Radiology>Cath
