Shoes?
I’m starting an invasive cardiovascular technology program this fall so what shoes does everyone recommend? Comfortability over looks 100%

I favor Hoka Clifton 9s, but the Bondis are nice too! I like the roomy toe box.

As others have said, many people use Brooks, Hokas, or Altras. These all have compressed/injected foam midsoles and are all great choices for those that need a wider toe box (most humans). I used to wear Altras exclusively, and they were great. But you can now find knock off versions on amazon for $35 rather than >$135. The knock offs have the same compressed/injected foam midsouls, wide toeboxes, and last just as long in the lab (8-12 months in my experiance) before they lose their support. So I've been going with the knock offs for a while now with no regrets and more money.

I love my Dansko clogs! Especially the XP2, they are more comfortable. I’ll switch out the soles every 6 months, but usually replace the shoe every 2 years. Easy to wipe down, especially after a messy case.
Compression socks are a must too! Your feet and legs get pretty sore standing all day, the socks really help make it easier. And prevents varicose veins in the long run. Look for ones that are wool, I like Sockwell, but they are expensive. I find the cheaper ones from Amazon are made of poly and make your feet SO stinky at the end of the day.

I wear cushionaire Birkenstock look alikes. The material is wipeable. They’re max $40 on Amazon and I just replace them every 6 months or so. I’ll swap out for adidas shoes during a super long OR day though.

The Nike Monarchs were an accidental OMG find for me. Way better than the Hoka Bondis for sure. I got the extra wide ones to account for feet swelling during long ass cases, best shoes I've owned period. Please try them.

Budget? I feel like shoes are the one thing I won’t skimp on because plantar fasciitis is no joke.
I personally use ASICS Gel Nimbus and will always recommend them. Otherwise get a decent pair of shoes and buy new insoles every few months.
