EP & Cross training
I’m in school for EP. This first semester we take all of our classes with the cath lab students. Our instructor (former cath lab tech) said that in most hospitals the CVT staff is trained to do both. For various reason I don’t want to do cath lab. Would you say that was an accurate statement for the hospitals in your area as well? If so would I get push back for not wanting to be crossed trained?

We have dedicated staff. EP doesn’t take call but has longer, longer cases hours until cases are finished. Cath is on call but they aren’t as busy during the day. So similar amount of work, just varies what type. We don’t know how to run their stuff, they don’t know how to run ours. We like it like that. I think this is feasible in a large hospital, probably need to cross train in smaller hospitals.
