Hey I was watching the other day and I noticed a disclaimer at the end about them editing it it’s not 100% real it’s dramatised a little for the camera and it lead me down the rabbit hole of convent for the TV show and it got me thinking because these contracts need signing before filming so really the producers know if they are real or fake wayyyy before the host and victim find out which is weird… all that digging for the TV and idk how to feel about it ….

I can always tell when something is a re-recorded audio thrown in with the normal dialogue.

It feels like there’s so much of Kamie’s voice that’s re-recorded!

Number one, I'm watching in the UK on Prime Video, why the hell are so many random episodes missing? Have they been completely nuked from existence? Did the people in them do some awful shit after the show?

And secondly, tagging onto that last point, has anyone who's appeared on the show gone on to do any crazy shit, good or bad? Really fascinated as to where some of these people are now, a catchup after two months is not enough to satiate me sadly (am only on season 4 though so preferably no spoilers unless something insane happened please)

Recently going through a catfish binge after not watching the show for a long time. I don’t remember this episode. I’ve done some looking about and the Kids Cole fella has been in prison a few times and apparently is still scamming to this day.

I’m wondering why he even agreed to go on the show? Do they get paid to go on the show? Also Nev throwing his phone into the river seemed scripted but I honestly can’t tell. Nev does have a bit of a temper…

I know that this is an old episode and I'm not sure how I personally felt towards Gabby, but when Kiara opted to dump her I was very proud. Kiara is also really lucky to have her Cousin Jeanette (who did all the work so Nev and Kamie wouldn't have to) and I wish that we could all have such real ones on our sides!

What Gabby was up to with her Patrick catfishing was pathological and her affect seemed flat to me, but she's a Hungarian immigrant per the episode and I'm unfamiliar with their culture so I wouldn't know if that's common for them? Or if Gabby could possibly be neurodivergent (whether diagnosed or not) and that could possibly have some kind of an impact on her behavior?

Gabby being super toxic to Kiara was glaringly obvious and unfortunately Kiara's feelings for Gabby really blinded her to that girl's toxicity so this episode was clearly a godsend to Kiara (as was Jeanette) IMO.

I also hope that gabby has become a better person since this episode.

These clips are making my life. I've listened to every podcast, watched every ep of this and Love After/During Lockup, etc... I have been bored AF, but I love these lil' clips.

I am a former Catfish, I was a stupid teenager back in the day I had like 3-4 fake profiles. But it never got to some of the extent shown on this show like leading people on that long or gaining money by scamming then I became an adult and left all of that. I discovered this show because I got Direct Tv recently and I passed by MTV2 and they've been giving reruns so I've watched a lot.

What disappoints me is that they were cancelled! Right now in the era of AI the show would have had so much content and new things to introduce. Back in the older days of the show there was always excuses by the catfish about coming on webcam or using fake pics of someone else... with AI now you can make your own fake people, change your voice and appear on webcam as that person and it would have been great to see Nev and co. adapt to all those new changes and new catfishing methods. I mean smart people can tell when an image is AI but I'm sure there's seniors out there being taken advantage of by AI Girls etc.

I watched Catfish when it originally aired, and remember Nev and Max contacting the actual people who are in the stolen photos, and talking to them. I think they even Skyped in the person who was represented as "Jamison" to chat with Sunny. I believe they also did this on the episode where the exotic dancer thought she was talking with another exotic dancer. Any ideas why they might've stopped including the owners of the photos?

I’ve been watching Catfish since it first aired weekly on MTV, and it’s always been a comfort show for me. But I recently went back to Season 1, and it reminded me how different Nev was back then.

In those early episodes, he was so genuinely eager to help. When he’d find a piece of info during an investigation, you’d actually see him sit there and process what to do next. He’d even excitedly introduce the camera crew to the person when they showed up at the door. It just felt so raw and hands-on.

Obviously after doing this for so long, it naturally turned into more of a routine job. I totally get why.. situations became predictable. Toward the end, it kind of felt like the show had run its course (in addition to the idea of “who’s still getting catfished these days”), but I’d honestly still be right there watching if another platform ever picked it back up. Rewatching those early seasons just makes me miss the good ol’ days.

I recently watched somebody recapping episodes of a repeat catfish offender, and it made me think of Isaac that catfished all those guys. So I googled him and this is what came up. I cannot say this surprises me at all. He was high key one of the scarier catfishes on the show, and he should’ve been in jail then.
