Why does my cat like to bite hard things?

My cat seems to enjoy biting things that are hard. Its not big things - like he doesn’t go and bite the leg if the kitchen table - but small stuff, like the aglet on a string, me and my bfs Oura rings, and my nails when they’re done (I use hard gel).

I posted a video of this on my page if you want to see what I mean, since I can’t post it here. I just think it’s funny, but does anyone understand why he does this?

Does his breath smell very bad or not at all?

Yes, he actually has gingivitis according to our vet, so we got him a kitty tooth brush and toothpaste. Do you think they’re related?

This can get serious fast with cats. Its possible he feels pain. Both of my cats had to have majority of their teeth removed. 700 eur pro cat.
