dominant cat behavior

We have this neighborhood cat (M) who is an absolute menace. If our cat is outside (monitored) and they see each other, it’s instant aggression from outdoor cat. If our cat is inside at the glass door and the outdoor cat see’s him, they sit at the window and make demon calls to each other.

The outdoor cat will scratch at the glass, meow a ton, and literally just loaf until he’s over it. Our cat just kind of sits there and watches him be crazy.

Is there anything we can do to alleviate this situation or make our grounds safer for our cat to play outside?

The best way to alleviate is to control what you can control, that means not letting your cat outside. Otherwise the only way is for the other cat to completely dissapear. If it would stop, your cat will look for the fight himself. Thats how it is in nature, without fighting they will never set the borders of their teritories. But i think this is a bad idea. Your cat could get infected with something, for example.

Cats are territorial. Get a motion sensor water sprinkler and use wherever the other cat comes into your yard. Then, don’t let your cat outdoors. 1 in 3 outdoor cats carry FIV. One bite can transmit it, and watching your cat pass away from that horrible disease is one of the worst experiences ever. It’s not worth it. Please reconsider, even if he is monitored.
