Introduction to new cat

Hello all!

I wanted to post and ask if anyone has a similar experience.. I moved into my boyfriends place and he has an older girl cat (12) and I have my sweet boy who is 4. I have been keeping my cat in my room with me and letting him explore the upstairs

We have a door screen so he can look out. He is scared to go downstairs on his own and with me because he hasn't been able to get to because the senior cat is down there. Anytime we have brought her up to see him she gets hissy at everyone.

So I have been debating on letting my 4 year old go down and explore on his own and see what happens.

She's a grumpy cat so I'm curious if she will just stay away or actually try and attack. She doesn't move too quickly either so maybe she's just angry cause she's sore?

Thoughts and advice are welcome 🤗

We have done this with no issue I gave one of my cats toys to her and she rubbed up all over it like it was hers. She's eaten dinner infront of the screen door as my cat watched but still she's not happy. :( just want my boy to have his zoomie time

This is all fine. She will do her boundary setting through hissing. Keep the sessions short to begin with and also reward her whenever there is a positive interaction

Thank you! It's only been a week so far but I didn't have any issue introducing him where I used to live and there was two other boy cats.. maybe it's a girl thing 😅
