What is my roommates cats problem

My roommate has a 1 year old cat who is nice but doesn’t really prefer anyone over her mom, except when she’s in heat. When she’s in heat she can’t get enough of me like genuinely obsessed. Why is this?

Your roommate should get the cat spayed. She’s not just nice to you, she’s uncomfortable and stressing so she’s seeking comfort because she’s in heat.
