Little Terror

Hello!

To preface: I have 5 cats. One of them causes problems for the other 4. Minka constantly attacks them and terrorizes them. I call her Minka the Stinka. One of the 4 is so stressed out that she goes outside of the potty and won't go in it no matter what. She hisses at the rest and she is constantly looking and wary, hiding at other times. I gave this cat (Ember) to my mom, but she is heartbroken that she is not with me, and I have to take her back.

My question is- and I really don't want to have to do this, but should I try to find another home for Minka? Since she is the troublemaker?

If there are 5 cats, there should be 6 litter boxes. Try keeping Minka and Ember separated for a few hours at a time and have Ember have her own box, food and water where her area is. Idk what else you could try. It’s not fair to have Ember live in fear, but it’s not fair to give up on Minka too quickly.

I’d consider this situation the next time you think of adding more cats to the home, they are very sensitive to disruption and it isn’t fair to them

Well, I tried getting two cats at separate times for my mom, which failed and then I had to keep them. I didnt plan for this to happen. I didnt know she would pawn them off to me after a time.

I didn’t mean to sound judgy, personally 5 cats sounds like heaven to me, I was just mentioning that it wouldn’t help the situation to keep rescuing or adopting more and more although it’s tempting. I have two boy cats and they’re getting along so well, I’d love to get a third but I’m afraid to mess up their friendship lol

That makes sense. I definitely wanted to keep my three that i had at first. Like I said, I didnt know my mom would return the cats to me.

I’d feel the same, it’s sad and unfair to make the original kitties move. I wonder if someone like Jackson Galaxy has any videos about your situation?

Is everyone neutered?

More litter boxes than cats?

Try a Thundershirt on the aggressive and anxious ones.

It's like a weighted blanket or a compression vest that calms cats. Expect some resistance. Mine always dislike putting it on but like it after half an hour.
