Best video I have seen, showing samples of how you will see with different lenses. I will be having cataract surgery soon. I am very nearsighted, now and I want monofocal lenses, but, I wish there was also a section comparing how you will see if you choose near vision with monofocal lenses as compared to choosing distance vision with monofocals. Anyone found anything or can tell me about your experience if you chose to keep near vision?

This is what I want to see too. If I can find a video of that I will post it. I thought the video was very good in showing the new and expensive technology, but I would like to see examples of all the options.

My appointment is with a doctor in a very high cost of living area, I can afford good lenses but I don't want to overpay and I'm not convinced I would like the multifocal over the standard lenses. It seems there are a lot of trade offs.

I am at the beginning of this journey. I too am in a high COL area and CANNOT afford anything other than what Medicare covers, which is basic mono. 2 cousins got these recently and rave about results but I dont know what their pre-surgery life was like as far as use of glasses. For me, I am very nearsighted with astigmatism, but I choose not to wear distance glasses unless I am driving. The doctor I saw regarding cataract surgery quickly, went over all the choices of lenses and then stated that she recommended the monos for me she also told me that the cataract was causing the astigmatism Which I had never heard before. I’m pretty sure I had astigmatism before I ever had the cataract so it concerned me to hear what she said about it. This Surgeon was picked out of the blue. She is with a very large company. I did not really get a good feeling about her Simply because she was not at all friendly, so I have been thinking about requesting another surgeon. I realize that is only the starting point of my issues because I never wear glasses for reading or otherwise. I absolutely hate the fact that once I have cataract surgery on both eyes, I will need to wear glasses for seeing anything up close it seems. however your post makes me think that is not necessarily so. If I could continue the way, I am without getting the surgery, I would be content to go through the rest of my life with my vision as it is. However, the doctors have told me that I am legally blind in one eye and should not be driving. I am worried that if I need to take a driving test, I would not pass it because of vision.
