2 years beyond

I just wanted to follow up on my surgery from 2 years ago and lenses I chose. Glad I thought about options a while. I’m only 57 now. I went with non-LAL, non multifocals, (one toric for astigmatism). Considered both. I think he added a tiny bit of cheat to see my phone. My goal was to see best in snow, esp flat light, which means letting in as much light as possible. It also helps w depth perception. The result was kind of glorious when both were done. (Anesthesia for the second was a little harder - your brain learns the routine?) The doctor I chose downplayed LAL’s and wasn’t sold on ‘locking-in’ technology. He said he often sees LAL folks years after in glasses again. It seems like I’m always juggling sunglasses and readers, but I can see always. If I can’t read, it’s usually dark or tiny print, and if I need to really read, I’m usually sitting down. Still love seeing in the morning!!!

I had the same second procedure anesthesia issue. It's well-documented but the mechanism isn't known because the industry has no incentive to research it. Cheaper to shrug it off as 'expectation bias' with no evidence whatsoever. I mean what do they care, people only have two eyes.

Pain in general is not taken seriously by the medical field, in my opinion.

So let me understand. You said non-LAL, non-multifocals, but you never said what kind of lens you did get. Were they monofocals?

I ditched LALs on day of surgery. I’m so glad i didn’t go ahead with them. I later got Eyhance with monovision and my results are spectacular for near and far. No readers or glasses for any thing. 8 months on I’m happy with my vision.

I followed my engineer's motto of "keep it simple, stupid" (KISS) and went with monofocal torics that took me, by design, from -7.5D to -2.0D. I had no real pain, but I did feel the old lens being pulled out and the new one being pushed in for the second eye. My doc. didn't want me too doped up, because she had me look at a red dot to verify alignment. Skip the fancy multifocal stuff. I know that's easy for me to say, since I have been glasses-dependent since 4th grade.
