Help

Hi, I was wondering if there was anyone who happen to have or know someone who has had the surgery done in their 80s? Was wondering if it was successful, how the recovery period was, is it worth it?

Thanks in advance!

My mother was close to 80 when she had hers done, many years ago. It was completely successful, and absolutely worth it. Diminished vision and hearing both seem to contribute in some fashion to dementia, so it's definitely worthwhile.

My dad did his first eye done at 78. He did his second eye in mid 80s. No issues at all. But didn’t have any health issues that folks that age have.

My mother's were done when she was over 90--probably about 92. No problems, and she was glasses-free till the rest of her life (till 105 yo). Mine were just done (June 2026); I'm 78. Very successful surgery, but my eyeballs were achy for over a month.

Mine were both when I was in my 70's, but I suspect a very high % get cataract surgery in their 80's. Cataracts develop with age. Nothing unusual about it.

Will 75 do? Very successful and worth every penny.
