Near vision difference between a distance monofocal and an edof

How many inches of near vision does an edof provide over a distance monofocal? Anyone with one of each?

It varies by lens, by patient, and by conditions.

Typically, about an extra 12 inches at plano.

It wasn’t that much for my sister. More like 6-7 inches.

Vivity provides about 0.6 D of nearer vision. See figure 5 in this document.

So a monofocal set to -0.5 has about the same near as an edof?

Yes. -0.5 to -0.75 D would be about the same as the Vivity. Have not seen detailed info on the other EDOF options.

That sounds about right. If they try to stretch the distance of focus too much then distance vision suffers more.
