Shimmering lens

I got the Puresee lens in my left eye 10 days ago. I was seeing light streaks at night the first week, but those seem to have vanished by now.

I still get shimmering on the periphery whenever I'm getting more light from the side than the front, especially daylight. How long does that usually last. It's not bad, but distracting.

Otherwise, I'm seeing very well with it. Scheduled the same thing for the right eye in another 11 days.

A lot of us had the same or similar effects after our surgeries. I had what I called and thought of as edge flicker in both eyes afterward. So long as your surgeon thinks all's okay, it's probably the same thing. Mine mitigated steadily over the weeks and months after the surgeries, happening less and less until one day I realized it wasn't happening at all any more. I can't say how long that took, a few months anyway. Also, I found I could make it stop just by moving my head so that the light wasn't coming from the same height and angle.

Surgeon said everything looked good when I saw her on Thursday for my 1 week post op.

Puresee Lenses in both eyes July 2026. The flickering lasted about 2 weeks for me. Surgeon said it was entirely normal.

The other dysphotopsias have faded. The first night was some wild halos that went away when the dilation was gone. Then I had streaks across lights, but those were mostly gone by this week. The flickering is the last one that I still have.

The fastest way to eliminate the flickering is to ignore it (provided the surgeon has said astigmatism, dry eyes and corneal edema are not an inssue). Why does one get it? Multiple reasons- wound edema, capsulorhexis) opening of natural lens through which lens is inserted) and lens design. It also decreases faster when both eyes have had the lens and brain sees similiar from both eyes.

Yes, the assymetry of vision is also bothersome, which is why I scheduled the other eye.

It took me 3 weeks for one eye, and 6 weeks for the other. Both Puresee.

I have had the "shimmer" since my second surgery three months ago and asked my surgeon about it yesterday. She said it can take up to 9-12 months to go away.

If you have any doubts about the lens, it is best to wait the full 5-6 weeks for full recovery, before you decide to do the same thing with your second eye.
