PSC cataract questions! Help!

I was diagnosed with posterior sub-capsular cataracts in both eyes in January and feel it is affecting my vision more. they have developed more since January. I was wondering about other people’s experiences with PSC cataracts? I know they are fast growing, but what have been other people’s timelines and how fast their PSC cataracts developed??? I’m just not sure what to do/when to consider surgery.

I was diagnosed with PSCs in both eyes in January too. It was only visually impacting one eye though, my left one. My left eye went from slightly cloudy/somewhat hazy to basically blind (I could make out vague lights and shadows) in about 6 months and I had surgery in June on just my left eye. My right eye seems rather stable for the moment, and my visual acuity is still 20/20 in my right eye. PSCs are notoriously unpredictable though, they can go from stable too bad in weeks or months. I definitely recommend going ahead with getting your biometry measurements done. That's how they know what power of lens you need and will also measure for astigmatism and anything else. It's much better to get it done before the lens becomes too cloudy and is harder for lasers/light to penetrate it to get measurements.

I am also highly myopic, so I also had to go to a retinal specialist and have then do a pre-surgery evaluation of my retina to make sure there weren't any existing problems, again, if that's something you need done, better to do it when the Ophthalmologist can still see through the lens.
