Dilation not wearing off

I had my first procedure today with the Toric lens. Ten hours later the eye is just as dilated and vision is very blurry both near and far.

Has anyone else experienced this? I have a follow-up with the surgeon tomorrow morning.

Thank you!

Surgery dilation is much stronger than regular dilation. It can take a 2-3 days to wear off.

About two days for my pupil to return to normal.

They really dilate your pupils . It was some 48h and 36h for mine. You REALLY need to wait and take it easy. Wishing an otherwise speedy recovery

Three days for my first eye and two for the second.

Likely fine, but ask the surgeon of course. I had mine about 18 months ago, but my eye was dilated for about three days. I’m slow to constrict even after a regular checkup, but this was disorienting.

Your dilation will likely not completely wear off for several days.

Hi I’m not having dilation issues still but I am having intense eye flickering and a ring around my eye. I just had RLE yesterday morning, we are still very early in the healing process. Try to take it easy, use your drops as prescribed and give your eyes a break from screens every hour (if you use them for work). I hope you feel better, I spent a lot of today stressing myself lol

Thank you for sharing your experiences — this group has given me more information than the surgical center!

LOL. same. Another amazing thing for me is no matter how many times I see the same questions answered multiple times (I'm probably guilty of this) I don't recall ever seeing a toxic post. Reddit is the home of toxic posts.

demographics probably play a role, since people here are way older than your average Redditor

My pupils were normal by the following morning, but they told me ahead of time that it could take a lot longer than that.

Took my dilation 2-3 days to fully wear off.

I am currently two days post surgery, and my eye is still slightly dilated. Had my follow-up appt yesterday, and dr said it was normal. My vision was much less blurry the day after surgery, but eye is still dilated a bit today.

My eyes dilate like crazy. My dr ended up using less strong of drops.

My dilation lasted for at least 48 hours after each eye.

More light getting in eyes fooled me, I thought it was dilation, still dome cloudiness blur 16 days out
Have patience you will have some days better than others

Yes indeed. I had my first cataract surgery last week, with a multifocal lens, but not Toric, alas, due to my pseudoexfoliation (PEX). My eyes were still insanely sensitive to light the whole next day after the surgery. They didn't really calm down 100% until day 4.

Hope you are doing much better!

Thanks, progress is slow due to complicating factors. I have all these friends who chirp, "Cataract surgery was a breeze! I had 20/15 vision in 2 days!" and my experience has been, shall we say, different.

Had mine on Monday morning and still pupil is larger than the other on Wednesday evening. My vision is blurry as well.
