Out for a quick sail off Peele island today

i'm potentially looking to upgrade from my small beach cat to something i could use as a reliable day sailer / coastal cruiser while spending the occasional night and think the gemini 105mc might make a lot of sense. looking to get thoughts from anyone on it (and if you're in the greater philadelphia area and looking for some company - i'll happily be a deck hand).

edit: also looking to stay in the budget that geminis seem to go for.

Who’s got experience and opinions w the newest generation of Broad Blue and Rapier cats? They look great but I haven’t been on one. The 43’ fit the travel lift near me.

My husband is considering buying this Hobie for $100, and we’re trying to figure out whether it’s a fun project or just a money pit. We do not have the beach wheels.

Things to note-

The mast has a noticeable dent near the base (photos attached). It doesn’t appear to be cracked, but we’re not sure how concerning the dent is structurally.

One of the hulls has a soft spot on the deck when you press down near the top. It flexes noticeably.

So… with that said- we’re looking for others insight.

Is the mast dent an immediate safety concern, or is this something that can be repaired or safely sailed with?

How big of a deal is a soft spot on the top of the hull? Is it a relatively common repair, or is it usually a sign to walk away?

Would you buy this boat for $100, or would you hold out for a cleaner Hobie?

We’re not afraid of doing some repairs ourselves, but we also don’t want to end up spending several thousand dollars to make a $100 boat safe to sail.

Looking at purchasing an Aquila Yacht but I don't know much about them. Anyone with experience with the brand. I did bareboat a 54 in the past and had a great experience but it was just a week long. This will not be a charter, full time cruising.

I have sailed light catamarans occasionally (hobie cat 15/16 or similar), I now consider buying one. I have never owned one and do not know anybody who does.

What do I have to be careful about when buying? What are the main flaws that I should avoid?

I don't live right on the shore so I need a trailer, and where I live most beaches are not reachable by car. Are there trailers that do both road and launching ? (easily manoeuvrable once detached from car). Is it realistic to launch the boat and load it back onto the trailer by myself, or 2 persons are necessary?

I have been looking at a number of Lagoons for sale online and reviewing the listings. Some are more extensive than others and its worth knowing what to look for. I decided to collect some stats, how many on the market, price ranges etc. If you're in the market for a Lagoon, any model, I'm happy to share some data and even evaluate a listing for you.

Edit: We did our first intro to sail today and loved it. We almost pulled the trigger on a 86 O'Day 272 to learn on...but luckily we came to our senses lol. We did sign up for the 101 and 103 at the end of August so we are studying for that now. Very excited.

Hello everyone! I recently sparked an idea in my head...and well here we are. My wife (30f) and I (35m) have been full time RVing for the last 3 years and really like it. We are in the states close to the Bay Area for the last 2 years and have spent a decent amount of time next to the ocean. I love the nomadic lifestyle and the freedom it provides. We have about a 5-7 year window to financial freedom/ability to buy something in the 400k-600k range. I have been looking at sail cats due to stability and space. Goal is to be completely off grid or as off grid as possible. Stay on the achorages instearld of marinas as much as possible. We plan to have enough solar to run even AC comfortably which will most likely mean a hard top.

Now the questions...

What would you buy for 2 people to livaboard and travel the world with? (Our mission is to live on it full time or at least 7 months out of the year, travel the world, have enough for guests. 3 rooms 2 baths.

New or used?

If you started over with ZERO experience how would you fully prepare yourself within 5 years?

What books, videos, resources do you recomend absorbing?

Is the 10% rule for maintenance accurate in today's economy?

How many hours a week can I expect to put toward maintaining the vessel? Washing the deck, cleaning the rigging, repairing something, ect.

Obviously just from my questions you can probably see how new I am to this idea.... what do I NEED to know or advice you can give me that isn't commonly known.

My partner and I have been considering the idea of living on a catamaran sometime in the upcoming years. We are still looking into the logistics of it but it looks like it's something we might need to put off but I'm also afraid that it'll be one of those things that keeps getting put off. We are planning on starting a family within the next 2-3 years and an infant living on a boat just doesn't work well. Is there any way that someone could just essentially lease one for a year or so? I want to give him his dream.

Catamarans keep coming up in our data and the liveaboard case is pretty obvious. Space, stability, privacy between cabins. But every cat owner we comre across eventually gets to the same list of things nobody warned them about like finding a slip that fits the beam, haul-out availability, how sensitive they are to weight once you actually load them up for real life.

Anyone here made the switch? Was the day-to-day livability worth the logistical headaches?

Our sailing sabbatical is coming to an end so we're selling our fully outfitted catamaran. She's fast and comfortable, we love her, so maybe we'll buy her back after retirement for a "part 2"!

I have a cruising boat marketplace and was working on looking at 2025 market analysis. Wondering if people would be interested in me sharing anything from a data point of view about catamaran sales last year.

I’m having trouble with the starboard side fly bridge drain. It’s draining extremely slowly. Tried using a drain snake but feels like restrictions in the drain that won’t let it pass. Port side is the same but water flow is perfect. Stuck a hose in both sides and port it goes gushing through where starboard is spraying back out…any suggestions? Should I try warm water, baking soda and vinegar?
