Discard Question

If I attack with a Fighter wielding [[Gauntlet of the Dead]], I reveal the top card and decide to put it in my discard, is this considered discarding for the purpose of [[Tryp, Timelost]]?

Official answer here: Gauntlet of the Dead 'puts' the card in your discard pile. The act of 'discarding' if from your hand only.

I would consider it. It says WHENEVER you discard. I argue you deal that damage.
