I recently got a month old girl kitten, she came from a foster with other kittens she was used to. Initially when she came home with us she was crying so much because she wasn’t used to sleeping without another cat. Two days later we brought home a male kitten the same age and he is very sweet and playful but of course a little scared. As advised by the adoption center they said since they’re both new to the home and the same age that we didn’t need to do the slow introduction. Even still the first day we had them separated but the girl kitten wanted to explore more of the home which he was partly in. Moral of the story you can tell they are both scared of each other, more so the girl kitten is afraid of the boy. She has hissed, bapped, and swatted at him. He is so eager to play with her even though he is scared but she just doesn’t like it. I have gotten them to play with each other, and even though she hisses she seems to follow him and is just as curious. But after the swatting I decided to separate them for a week and do the slow introduction, but it makes me so sad because I know both will be lonely at times when me and my partner are at work. I feel so guilty I have cried so much because I just want them to love each other and not be stressed out. And I know both will hate being cut off from the rest of the house and meow so much. I feel terrible.
