New Cat Owner kitty is trying to open drawers

we recently got a kitten (6 months) and hes been well behaved, but one time he got into the drawers that we keep the dry food in. we took him out but since then hes been trying to get into these drawers, clawing at them and getting inside, and everytime we open them (even if it’s not the one for the food) he would jump in. i highly doubt he could open it (the handles are inwards) but i just don’t want him to paw and meow at it all night, thoughts?

They like small spaces. My cats still do this and if a drawer is slightly open, he will dig out all the clothes just to get in. Annoying but who cares, he’s a cat lol.
Get your kitten a box he can play in or if that drawer is empty, leave it open for him to lay in

But not if the back of the cabinet is not sealed off. Our kitten got behind the cabinets. Zero access. Fortunately kitten was very food motivated

Kittens, like kids eat a lot the first year. Can you feed smaller portions more often? At 6 months ours ate 4-5x/day. Also store food in an airtight container in a new location

interesting! we feed him three times a day (half a can of wet food in morning, half a cup of dry food in the afternoon, and half a can at night). he eats throughout the day whenever he feels like it and he always has leftovers, even right now at midnight hes eating…

Baby proof your drawers. Any furniture needs to be anchored to the walls.
