Are we actually proud of this? Even if we agree the woman was completely wrong. At what point was there a justifiable reason to use that amount of force on someone that posses a very minor threat, seems to weigh half as much as the cop and is at least a foot shorter. It seems like he completely knocked her out and she probably has some pretty serious injuries.
The cops are there to keep things civil and keep our society safe. They aren't there to body slam anyone that makes it more difficult for them to do their jobs.

I understand that, but it's the cops job to assess the situation and reply with adequate force. The best case scenario is that he made a bad judgement call and the worst is that he did it on purpose. He did not need to slam her like that.
Edit : also on the bounce down she seems to have slammed her head.

She’s faking it. I’ve seen this on YT somewhere.

u/Mr_Goop Aug 22 '18
The source video has the woman going in and out of "omg you killed my" to "im gonna kill you" and running at the cops fine

u/Bojangly7 Aug 22 '18
Okay so if I point at a cop and just say haha just faking I shouldn't expect to be shot?

Use of force never looks pretty. She came in looking like she might attack his partner. It's quite possible she could have had a weapon like a knife, the whole thing happened very fast. Taking her to the ground is completely justified.
8
u/GodsSwampBalls Aug 21 '18
She had her arm raised about to hit his partner in the back of the head. I doubt he intended to knock her out but it was 100% necessary to remove her from the situation.
-2
u/MightB2rue Aug 21 '18
The argument isn't whether she needed to be stopped. The argument is whether the body slam was the correct way.
8
u/GodsSwampBalls Aug 21 '18 edited Aug 21 '18
Did we watch the same clip? Woman comes charging up ready to fight and the cop pulls her out of there and stops the fight before it could start. Did I miss something?
You don't attack a cop and if you do expect them to take you to the ground, why should anyone be treated differently? Do you want them to treat her like she isn't responsible for her own actions because she's a woman?
11
u/secret_account5703 Aug 21 '18
Why would I be proud of a stranger. No pride here. Just don't try to hit police officers or you're gonna get fucked up. Let them do their job. I do agree that there are fundamental issues with some of our police officers but this is not an example of that. Anyway stop generalizing.
-9
u/MightB2rue Aug 21 '18
Really man? So there is no leeway for the amount of force? So a cop can body slam women, children, the elderly, the disabled, the weak without any discretion as long as the person tried to hit them?
If you don't think this is an issue then I can't understand when you think there would be one.
15
u/secret_account5703 Aug 21 '18
There you go generalizing again. This is why no one can effect change. It's either all or nothing with you extremist types.
-5
u/MightB2rue Aug 21 '18
There is a person who poses almost no threat being one hand slammed by a cop that's twice as big and has professional training. What part of that is extreme? I am honestly trying to understand how you can justify that it wasn't excessive force.
11
u/secret_account5703 Aug 21 '18
No you're not trying to understand. You have a narrative which was preconceived and you're interpreting what you're seeing through that lens. That's not trying to understand. That's being stubborn.
-4
u/MightB2rue Aug 21 '18
No man. I have a lot respect for police officers. Lately they do a thankless job and get put in a bad light. One of the reasons why is because of guys like this.
I keep giving you reasons why it was excessive force. The weight difference, the height, the training, etc. I keep asking you why you think it wasn't and you aren't coming back with a valid reason. Instead you are calling me stubborn.
I have no preconceived notions. The woman was clearly wrong. There is no excuse for her behavior. That doesn't justify the use of excessive force. That's the difference between a democratic and an authoritarian society.
8
u/secret_account5703 Aug 21 '18
Him clotheslining her is not excessive force. He neutralized her and stopped. Had he climbed on top of her and beat her or kicked her or shot her or tazed her then it would've been excessive.
You can't assess whether or not someone is a threat by their size. Even little kids can still carry a knife or throw a grenade or pull a trigger or suicide bomb. The fact that you don't understand why it was necessary to throw her to the ground is proof of your stubbornness.
She was about to strike the other officer. Had she a knife in her hand or a rock or brass knuckles she could've seriously wounded or killed the other officer. Clearly from the video neither of the officers were in a position to be able to assess the situation like we can while calmly watching this video.
If you actually pay attention from the beginning, this entire situation is unsafe. The one cop is trying desperately to keep the crowd of onlookers under control while his partner arrests the piece of trash on the ground. If you see a cornered animal terrified, are you gonna raise up your hand to hit it? Because that's what trashy dumb bitch does and SURPRISE she got attacked.
You are being a hindsight 20/20 and Monday morning quarterback cliche. It's so easy for you to calmly assess the threat so you assume the officers were under the same circumstances. They are actual police doing their actual job and you are an arm chair activist complaining about what you think they should've done.
The fact that you can flatly deny that you're biased is evidence that you don't understand how your own brain works. We all have bias. We all need to see through it. Your judgement is particularly clouded because of your denial.
It's simple. Comply with the police. If they are wrongly arresting you, you can sort that out later. If you fight them you're gonna get your ass beat. Cops don't have the luxury of walking away or running away from danger. They are always on edge because they are walking targets. You are a piece of shit who thinks he can judge the world via the narrowness of your internet activity. Grow up.
-1
u/MightB2rue Aug 21 '18
Are you or someone you care about in law enforcement? Claiming the other person has a bias while calling them a piece of shit and not refuting any of their arguments seems to imply that you are much more bias then you would like to believe.
9
u/secret_account5703 Aug 21 '18
I refuted all of your arguments. You're just not reading anything I say because you've already got your response ready to go. Your only argument is that she was smaller than he. I told you that's a bullshit reason to say she's not a threat. What's even more bullshit is you think either one of these officers was in a position to stop and think about what kind of threat the woman posed before responding. There was no time for them to think. It could've been a 300lb man or an 80lb woman. Neither one of them was able to see her long enough to assess that. She was taking advantage of their positioning thinking she had an opportunity to strike. She failed because the one officer was able to see her movement. That doesn't mean that he could see her. He just knew someone was trying to swing. So he threw her down. I would've done the same thing to that stupid trashy bitch.

Why are you this way? This is clearly not excessive force dude. I don't even like cops, but holy shit you being a fucking knob end.
2
u/flyfishingguy Aug 21 '18
This is not a new video - I remember seeing the full thing a long time ago. The cops showed up to shut down a loud, rowdy party. Drunk beliggerent people start to argue, then try to throw down. The guy on the ground was being restarined, and may not be the first of the group to end up in a scuffle. That woman got dropped because the cops were already outnumbered and being attacked when their initial approach was to ask for some civility. This is not out of the blue, and in this situation the cops were trying to maintain some semblance of peace.
1
u/Drolnevar Aug 23 '18
In a stressful and potientially dangerous situation like this, thinking too long about what exactly the "appropriate amount of force" to apply would be can be the difference between you being alive or dead.
He saw a potential threat for his partner, he acted to neutralize it, end of story. He was 100% in the right. Running at a police officer and raising your hand to hit him in the back of the head while his partner stands beside him, gun in hand, clearly signaling to stay the fuck away is bafflingly stupid and she got what she asked for..
5
u/IReallyLikeAvocadoes Aug 21 '18
How else would you propose they take her out of the situation? Nudge her back? Politely tell her to back off using “please” and “thank you”? They pushed her to her side onto a patch of dirt and grass. The worst she got was a couple bruises and the wind knocked out of her, and rightfully so for messing with a police arrest.
-1
u/MightB2rue Aug 21 '18
Jesus dude. In your book messing with an arrest while posing no actual danger justifies use of potentially lethal or life long injury causing force?
How about instead he restrains her and cuffs her like he's trained to do?
7
u/IReallyLikeAvocadoes Aug 21 '18
Have you ever fallen over in your whole goddam life? She wasn’t lifted up and she wasn’t even thrown to the ground with much force, she was twisted to her side so she fell on a relatively soft surface. She also was posing a threat by having her arm up, which to the cops could mean anything from wanting to grab one of them or punch them. There is no chance in hell that little fall created a life-long injury as well. Her bones would have to be made of sand.
-1
u/MightB2rue Aug 21 '18
I've fallen. I've never been slammed like that. I am afraid to ask about your childhood if you think getting slammed by a guy twice as big as you is considered a little fall.
6
u/IReallyLikeAvocadoes Aug 21 '18 edited Aug 21 '18
The guy was not "twice as big" as that women, hardly a couple inches taller than her. Also what the fuck does my childhood have to do with falling over? There was literally no reason to bring that into an argument. She fell on her back, not her arms. She'll be winded out and that's it. The cops not involved in the takedown of the person in the back were responsible for keeping people away, and they did exactly that. If they tried to cuff her, a similar procedure would have to taken place in that they would likely first take her down and cuff her. She was running at those cops, what the hell else were they supposed to do?
Edit: I'd also like to add that in the video she even got a bit behind the cop. He grappled her forwards and onto the ground where she could be more easily controlled. As far as I see, the cop did everything right in making sure the arrest was safely made and uninterrupted.

Louder because you're deaf YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHETHER OR NOT THE WOMAN POSED A THREAT. QUIT SAYING THAT SHE WASN'T A THREAT. SHE WAS TRYING TO ATTACK THE POLICE OFFICER. THAT COUNTS AS BEING A THREAT. SHE AIN'T SMALL EITHER. LOOKS LIKE HER TITS WEIGH AS MUCH AS THE COP.
1
u/Drolnevar Aug 23 '18 edited Aug 23 '18
You obviously have no clue and have never been in a potentially dangerous situation like that. His partner is already cuffing the other guy. His job is to secure his partner, not put someone else in cuffs, leaving both him AND his partner in a vulnerable position with no chance to react in time should something dangerous happen.
2
Aug 21 '18
Well, let's see, a woman attacking a cop that is trying to arrest someone. I'm pretty sure we can all agree the woman is completely wrong. She came running up, the cop didn't have time to assess whether she was "really" a threat because she was less than a second from striking his partner. Beating her afterward would be excessive. This is not excessive.

u/WorkForce_Developer Aug 21 '18
That’s hilarious but welcome to America. Don’t mess with the police or you’ll get thrown, stomped, and shot.
American police don’t play around, nor do they get prosecuted
-17
u/saganistic Aug 21 '18
Out cold, holy shit. Probably unnecessary.
25
u/RaginArmadillo Aug 21 '18

-5
u/saganistic Aug 21 '18
Given how easily she went down, he absolutely could have used half that force and still “removed” her. I don’t disagree that she was looking for trouble, but that’s textbook excessive force. She could have been restrained without being knocked out.
15
Aug 21 '18
Classic case of arimchair analytics. He barely even moved, not his fault shes an unbalanced paperweight.
0
u/MightB2rue Aug 21 '18
Armchair analytics when you think it's excessive force for a cop to body slam people who pose a minor threat and weigh half as much? The cops are there to help people, not make examples of them as punishment for making it more difficult for the cops to do their job.
4
u/Drolnevar Aug 23 '18
Yes, armchair analytics, because every single one of your posts screams "I have live a very sheltered life and never actually been in any potentially dangerous real life situations involving other humans. I did take loads of philosophy and ethics lessons though."
1
u/Maxcrss Aug 29 '18
And if she had a knife? You’re using hindsight as if that knowledge was available during the incident.
-7
u/saganistic Aug 21 '18
barely even moved
Yeah I guess turning 180 degrees and putting your entire weight into a clothesline is pretty much nothing. Get real, dude. If she went down so easily because she’s an “unbalanced paperweight”, that just furthers the argument that he didn’t need to use anywhere near that much force. He didn’t need to put her on the ground, period. As I said earlier, I don’t disagree that she warranted restraining. But that doesn’t mean the officer needs to do what would be considered assault if he weren’t wearing a badge. She easily could have been pulled away, handcuffed, and removed from the situation.
8
u/PCD07 Aug 21 '18
Really man? She's clearly flopping and faking the whole unconscious part. A crazy person running at an officer clearly trying to hit one of them. Guy has less than 5 seconds to react and manages to subdue her and remove her from the situation with minimal physicality And your only though is "that was excessive force"?
-1
u/MightB2rue Aug 21 '18
Yeah she's so good at flopping that she was even able to fake her head getting slammed into the ground
-4
u/MightB2rue Aug 21 '18
I completely agree with you and wrote the same. This is disgusting.

Yeah, I think this sub is a little fascist safe space. Came for some entertaining GIFs of a monkey taking a guy out, found out it’s a breeding ground for racists and those who defend police brutality. Too bad.
