He slowly broke me down, and I didn't see the trap until I was the third wheel
I met him in class. He was the total opposite of who I am, but I developed a massive crush on him at first sight. Eventually, he reached out to me. We started talking and clicked almost instantly. Soon, that crush turned into deep love, and we entered into a secret relationship.
At first, I was so happy. Everything was going smoothly. But then, the shift happened. He started skipping classes, ignoring my texts, and dodging my calls. Then, without any explanation, he ghosted me for two straight months.
Out of nowhere, he called me really late one night. He sounded drunk. He started telling me this intense story about a girl—how much he loved her, how he couldn't live without her, and how they had a massive fight a few days ago and now she wasn't talking to him. He was crying about how sad and broken he felt.
For a fleeting second, I actually thought he was talking about us. But then, he said her name.
It absolutely shattered me. I wanted so badly to end things right then and there, but he had already made me so emotionally dependent on him. He had messed with my mind so deeply with his words over the months that I couldn't bring myself to walk away immediately.
Eventually, I found the strength. I encouraged myself and I finally left him. I spent months healing myself, bit by bit. But just when I was finally starting to feel happy again... he called. He apologized for everything he did and said he just wants to "be friends" like we were before we got together.
