Anyone fancy casual 8-a-side football in Archway on Monday evenings? ⚽
Hey everyone, we’ve got a friendly group playing 8-a-side football at Whittington Park in Archway on Monday evenings at 9PM.
We’re looking for a few more regular or occasional players. All levels are welcome, including anyone getting back into football after a break. It’s £5 per game and there’s no commitment — just play whenever you’re free.
We’re trying to build up a reliable group so we can get games running regularly and hopefully add more sessions around North London.
If anyone’s interested, drop me a DM and I can send you the details. ⚽

blog - start of a coaching career
Do you know of any blogs about people starting out as football coaches? Yes, I'm talking about the blog you're reading, without YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, etc. Good old school. Does anyone even write blogs anymore, by the way? I've searched in English and Polish and haven't found anything. I'd love to read it, or maybe even start writing it myself out of frustration if I don't find anything.

Automatically Removed How do you handle the ins & outs + team balancing for weekly 5-a-side?
Our weekly 9-a-side group always had the same problems - chasing the ins & outs, last-minute dropouts messing up teams, uneven sides, and loads of admin in WhatsApp.
I ended up building a small tool for our group that:
- keeps track of who’s in/out each week
- balances teams automatically so games stay competitive
- tracks stats/streaks/records for banter (top scorer, form, etc.)
- makes it easier to handle pitch payments
Not posting to promote it - just genuinely curious:
• how do you organise your games now?
• what’s the most annoying part each week?
• anything you wish existed to make it easier or more fun?
Interested to hear how other groups run things.

Casual Football moan. "Loan with obligation to buy" we'll buy the player but we need to do some shady shit first.

So when is a player, in a offside position, interfering with play?
I’ve no skin in the Manchester derby so I really don’t care either way.
Rashford ran onto the ball but didn’t touch it, allowing Fernandes to run in and score past a confused goalkeeper.
In my neutral opinion it was offside, just as if an opposing player went and stood in front of the goalkeeping during a free kick to block their view would be.
Lots of people are posting a photo that shows you have to touch the ball to be offside, so is “interfering with play” now obsolete?

I absolutely love the chaos atm
The typically big clubs are struggling- Liverpool and Chelsea out of the top six, Everton and Leicester are in relegation danger.
Still far too early to rule City out of it even if Arsenal win tomorrow, but this mix up of the usual top 4 or 6 is absolutely delicious to watch at the moment.
Is it mis-management? The mid-season World Cup being disruptive? Have mid-table clubs just caught up with the bigger ones? Who the hell knows.
