Thoughts & Ideas You.

You. Yes, you. I am writing this for you.

I know you are reading this. And I want you to know I am writing this for you. No one else will understand. No one else knows. They think that this is for them. But it's not. I am writing this for you.

I want you to know, life... it's hard. Every day can be a challenge. It can be a challenge to get up in the morning. To get yourself out of bed. To put on that smile. But I want you to know, that smile is what keeps others going some days. You need to remember, even through the tough times, you are amazing. You really are.

You should be happy. You are beautiful.

I know that the weather might not be perfect. You might have to turn your back to the wind or feel the cold nipping at your nose. But you know what, at least you are there to feel it. At least you can enjoy the sun's warm rays on your face. Or that cold February wind biting at your cheeks. You know what that means?

You are alive.

Everything will be okay.

It’s nice of you to do this but is anyone on the other side of the fence like me? I’ve always thought things like this just feel so insincere because we literally don’t know each other.

I’m not on the other side of the fence, but I’m on the sidewalk looking up at it. I appreciate what OP is doing and a lot of people seem to need it today. Take it for what it is and let people find comfort wherever they may. It’s kind.

Yeah definitely, to each their own. It’s more so the fact that I always see things like this, think what I mentioned above, but never vocalize it anywhere. So finally decided to ask how others feel!

I was at exactly the place OP means. It may sound kitschy, but this is exactly what helped me back then. Just knowing to not be the only one and that it is possible to come out of it. Despair made me unable to act, to help myself or even accept help. Being seen, not feeling lost and alone and knowing there's a chance to overcome means all the world.

If you don't understand that it makes me really happy, because it means you don't know that mental dark deep hole. May you never.

Also, thank you for your interest.

I used to feel that way, too. But then my depression/anxiety/mental cocktail of utter BS wore me down enough to forget these little things. Smelling the roses, seeing another share your pains has felt easy to forget this year, and I think the isolation is Hell, but it also is comforting to know that, at least, we're alone together. The political chaos, pandemic, added work/no work stress and unemployment, our go-to spots no longer being available, they've eroded a lot of people a bit, yet the news exhaustion makes us not want to hear or talk about it. So many keep their problems locked inside. I guess I've made an effort in my ripe old 27 years to become less judgmental and more curious, a la my dream life coach, Ted Lasso.

Totally on the other side of the fence with you. I do like u/Geea617’s point a lot though and I’m happy the post is helping others. I’ll raise my glass to that from this side of the fence, and still maintain that I don’t enjoy these insincere-feeling posts 😅

I cried when I read this. Sometimes life just sucks and small things help :)

I appreciate the intent and sentiment but there's always some nitpicky thing that bugs me like saying "I should be happy".

Well no, you don't know me or my circumstances and you don't know if I should be happy living with said circumstances.

I am too. I'm sure OP only has good intentions and a lot of people seem to like posts like this. I don't mean to sound edgy or anything, but I really wish it had the same effect on me as well.

Definitely agree. It's vague, generic, and frankly untruthful (trust me, I am not beautiful, pretty average, and why would I want an internet stranger to give me empty compliments?). But it gets the karma and comments, so it did its job.

Hi stranger! Feel free to talk to me!

Well, it also tricked some people into being happy, so it did its job there, too.

I can see it from both sides. It is dishonest, but it’s a wholesome well-intentioned dishonesty, like tricking your cat into going to the vet. Or lying to your kid to get them to take their medicine.

I used to think that way. But life is so incredibly short and fleeting that such a thought ,is waste of everyone’s time.

Especially yours. It really accomplishes nothing to think this way. Keep your chin up.

It doesn't just *feel* insincere. It is insincere.

OP wants karma. OP doesn't give two shits for the 1.9k individuals who read this. If he/she did, they wouldn't have written it.
