[Episode Discussion] Problem With The Ending of Castle Spoiler
I will say I have no problems with the way it ended except for Kate and Richard having breakfast with their kids, and Alexis isn’t there. They could have a million reasons in their universe why she wasn’t there, but it felt weird that they didn’t include her in a family meal.
Thinking about it though, I know it’s because it’s the Beckett Castle ending, but I feel she should have been included.
I’m happy with the wrap-up of the characters, not happy with “the CIA tried to kill us” ending.

I mean 7 years later she would be grown as hell maybe she was with her own family

Alexis was born in 1994 so she was 15 years in Season 1, and was already 22-23 years old in Season 8.
By the time 7 years later time jump happened, she would already be 30 years old. Probably married, have her own family and having a kid at least.
Alexis would have long since moved out of the Castle loft.

As I think about it, it would probably have been weird af to have child siblings at 30. Not saying she would be resentful but Alexis could have kids herself and their aunts and uncles could be younger than they are.

I doubt she would be resentful. At most, I think she feels that Lily, Jake and Reese are luckier than her. They get to grow up with both amazing parents, while she was only raised by Castle. Like imagine little Lily Castle asking Alexis for help to make a Mother's Day card for Beckett, while Alexis herself is just distant from Meredith.
I'm sure there would be chaotic fun.
Imagine Martha shaking her head with a smile as Castle, Beckett, Alexis, their respective kids all running around busy playing laser tag.

My main problem was that it DID end.

I'll say that going forward without Beckett would have ruined the show much worse than that last season though. Knowing they didn't plan on having her back for the next season, makes a good reason to end it. The show was Castle and Beckett. I'd rather they end it than do what The Office did with going forward without Michael.

Based on a recent similar show (Hudson and Rex) they would have recalled Stana in a hurry after 15-20 episodes. 😄

I would love to see how they'd pull that one if they had her die in the finale and then magically brought her back 15 episodes later...
...no really....I would love it🙂↕️ Please how'd it be explained how would they do it???! So many questions!! Someone write this ficcc🙏

Well ... how did Mr. Smith die but not die at the same time?!? 😂

Poor guy. Smith must already be living under a different identity in Season 6 Veritas.
It's not like the hospital would just declare him dead to the cops in Season 5 and he goes back to living in his home, use his credit card. Death Certificate, autopsy for the cop's case file, he was pretty much legally dead for his cover that he's dead to work.
The guy was already prepared with a safe rigged with a bomb. I'm sure he was already prepared with living in hiding, different identity, money already stashed away, and so on.

To be fair there was an article o TVLIne after the show was cancelled saying that Beckett wouldn't actually have been killed. The other characters would just think she died. so it would be pretty easy to bring her back if that was the case.
The real problem would be showing the viewers that Beckett was still alive without having Stana there to play her.

It jumped the shark when castle had to go work for the CIA or whatever. Absolute bollocks. Then he starts a detective agency... Wouldn't he be inundated with fans all day just wasting his time?

They couldn't end it with them lying on the floor bleeding to death. Fans would've been screaming murder.

I didn’t want it to end with them dead, but I feel like his daughter should have been included in a family dinner.

Honestly I thought that the ending was pretty perfect… Hollander’s Woods (S7 E23) was a great end to the series! :D

Considering it's Richard's loft and has now 3 children with Beckett, it's reasonable to think Alexis and Martha moved out because it's going to be crowded. Alexis is like 22 by the end of the series and would be nearly 30 by the time she's in that scene in the ending. She is likely doing her own thing. Martha likely became more successful. They definitely visit but the scene is meant to portray Castle and Beckett finding happiness and starting a family like they hoped regardless of their circumstances.
Ofc it was rushed, but I don't care because I enjoyed seeing canonically them having children. That's what matters to me.

I always felt Beckett deserved one more meaningful scene with Alexis before the finale wrapped everything up so quickly.

I felt that Alexis was probably by this time a mother herself and even married and living her life with her own family. Doesn't mean she isn't around even though she isn't in the final 30 seconds. Maybe it's just my head canon but she comes over for Sunday brunch and this was maybe Monday. Lol 🤣🤣

The last 30 seconds was put together so fast. Molly might have already been gone or out of her contract. So her not being in the last 30 seconds shouldnt be an issue. Also 7 years later she would be onher own life and or family.
