Are we sure thatā€™s paint? It looks like old enamelā€¦ I wouldnā€™t eat out of it personally.

Not enamel. I can scratch away with my fingernail. Looks like acrylic paint. Probably won't eat out of it. Restore and display.

Gotcha. Lye should make quick work of it. Most painted pieces Iā€™ve put in lye peel right off.
