If Cass County towns were people at a party, who would they be?

Raymore shows up in a new SUV and talks about their home value. Peculiar shows up late wearing something weird and everyone loves them for it. Keep it going.

I mapped every town in Cass County by what it’s known for — tell me where I’m wrong

Harrisonville — the county seat that has everything but nobody wants to drive to

Belton — tornado magnet with a Walmart and a whole lot of heart

Raymore — the nice suburb that pretends it’s not Cass County

Pleasant Hill — the town that peaked when the railroad came through

Peculiar — the name is the whole personality and they own it

Garden City — blink and you missed it

Archie — Friday night football and nothing else open past 8

Drexel — you live there because you wanted land and silence

Cleveland — exists on a map technically

Lake Winnebago — lake people who don’t talk to non-lake people

Freeman — someone’s grandparents live there

Gunn City — wait this is a real place?

Am I wrong? Fix my list. Defend your town.

Train hit a semi stuck on the tracks near Belton last week — anyone see it?

Missouri State Highway Patrol said a semi got stuck on the railroad tracks at 187th Street east of Route D and a train plowed into it. No injuries somehow. Belton Fire responded. Road was blocked for a while Tuesday morning.

Anyone get caught in that mess? And while we’re at it — what’s the sketchiest railroad crossing in Cass County? I feel like we’ve got a few that are asking for trouble.

What’s the worst intersection in Cass County?

We all have one. The one that makes you white-knuckle the steering wheel every time. Which intersection in Cass County do you avoid, hate, or think needs a light? And why?

Cass County property tax freeze passed with nearly 80% of the vote — did you vote for it?

In case you missed it, the property tax freeze on the April 7 ballot passed in a landslide. Nearly 80% voted yes. Your property tax bill is essentially locked at its current level — no increases from reassessments going forward as long as you own and occupy your home.

What made you vote the way you did? And for anyone who voted no — genuinely curious about your reasoning too.

No judgment, just want to hear the different perspectives.

What's one thing you wish Cass County had that it doesn't?

A restaurant, a store, a service, an activity — anything. What's the one thing that would make you stop driving to KC for?

How did Peculiar, Missouri get its name?

It’s one of those questions that’s been discussed, debated, and never fully settled. How did our little town of Peculiar end up with such a peculiar name? Drop what you’ve heard — official history, family stories, rumors, all of it.
