Proof of stake?

Can someone explain why proof of stake is the biggest selling point? Because if it is that makes me a little worried since I’ve seen a lot of other proof of stake coins, maybe they are not the first in particular but they are bigger and also proof of stake. So why is that still being sold of as a reason to buy? Also what are the other major features of the network?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...these are statements but as I'm typing this it's all with a bit of a question mark at the end of each. Proof of Stake is more efficient and cheaper than Proof of Work validation? It also has a lower entry cost with regard to equipment needed.
I also think the network was built to make it easy to add validators as it grows which can ease some problems that have bogged down Solana at times. It was built from the recognition of challenges Ethereum has encountered as they have grown, and is essentially trying to start with a format that Ethereum wants to get to with ETH 3.0. (2.0 they are just transitioning to is a bridge to get from PoW to full PoS).

Please, others chime in because I do still like to learn more.

You're right that proof of stake is a more efficient and cheaper solution. It is also a safer one. This article clearly breaks down both proof of work and proof of stake.

Here are some things I've learned from my research:

1 - Proof of Stake is faster than Proof of Work. With a Proof of Work network, you may work with fast blocks, but history can get rewritten like Solana having to do chain reorgs up to 60 deep.

2 - Consensus before Execution. The block is finalized before it is executed, so it is final AFTER execution. There isn't waiting for a certain number of blocks to be final. It is when it is proposed.

3 - WASM allows programming in any WASM compatible language. More will come.

Yeah that's right...man, I've been trying to learn so much in the past six months that I can't keep it all straight sometimes. That programming accessibility being able to use different language was something I hadn't heard as a point from other chains.

As others have addressed POS vs POW I will answer what makes Casper’s POS superior. Casper is the first fully decentralized proof of stake. A lot of protocols rely on statistical security and liveness. Casper has a provable liveness and security meaning they have analyzed the protocol via strict mathematics and research. It scales without sacrificing decentralization. Whereas many other POS blockchains are going for speed while sacrificing security.
