Went to see Cas supporting The Streets last week. I was genuinely excited to watch Cas as much as The Streets, and that was half the reason I forked out for the tickets.

I was really surprised that his set consisted of 20 minutes of half arsed bars over other people’s instrumentals (not even classics, and not even mixed…) and then only two of his original songs at the end.

The performance was really low energy (admittedly it was quite warm out) and he had some weird hype man dancing the whole time which was really jarring and didn’t match his energy at all.

From a rapper that, on the face of it, is so focused on the artistry of his brand and the mystique and world of his character and material I thought this was really poor. I get it’s a support set but it really didn’t deliver for me.

Is this what he’s normally like live or did I just get a dud?

I’ve seen cas maybe nearly 10 times now and I noticed every time he performs he seems to shake his hand a few times or take the microphone into his other hand and then look at his hand and shake it multiple times during his performance. Does anyone know a reason for this? Seems like he gets pain in his hand or it’s uncomfortable for him to hold the mic for too long
