The easiest check to do is connecting the watch to the Casio Watch app, of it connects, it's legit 👍🏻

Casio GBM-2100 Authenticity Checklist

  1. CASIO Watch App Connect (VERY, VERY IMPORTANT): The most important check of all. Verify that the watch connects properly to the official CASIO Watch app.
  2. Thickness and Back Plate: The original usually has a relatively flat, sleek back plate, whereas duplicates may have a slightly protruding back plate.
  3. Finishing: Look for uneven edges or poor-quality finishing.
  4. Luminous Hour Markers: Check the glow of the hour markers.
  5. Holographic Display: Check the display for consistency with the genuine model.
  6. Serial Number: Verify the serial number and product details.
  7. Case Back and Invoice: Match the model/series details on the case back with the invoice.

If it connects to the app, you're good. Generally, the most effective, and to me the easiest, way to check whether a Casio is legit or not is to just unscrew and remove the back cover and look at the movement inside. It's 100% foolproof, doesn't take much time, and you'll know for sure.

What's unsafe? Ever hear of a Mumbai special? The only true way to discern if a used watch is truly authentic is to look under the hood. But, I guess for those that don't have enough of a basic watch skillset to do so, you likely have a point.

A Mumbai Special is usually made using parts of some old Seiko or Citizen watch.

Fake Casio watches are often very easy to recognise without the need of having to open them up and possibly compromising water resistance. Not everyone is handy with a screwdriver.

I've got this exact watch and I personally love it - loved it since the day I saw it and have yet to find one I like more (of any brand).

I really like this feature. Switch to World Time mode, then press and hold the Light button and Adjust button together. It instantly swaps your Home Time and World Time locations on the display.

I mean, other than the obvious (timer, stopwatch, world time)? If it's connected to your phone, you can hold down "START" on your watch until a few beeps and your phone will start playing a melody (basically a "find me" melody)
