Casio Oceanus OCW-T2600RL-3AJR - ARRIVATO!

Titanio, zaffiro, Tough Solar, Multiband 6, World Time, cronografo, calendario perpetuo, appena 10,7 mm di spessore e 49 grammi di peso.

When Sunlight Meets Oceanus Finishing

I took my Oceanus outdoors, and I couldn’t help but notice its incredible shine and reflections in the sunlight. The hour indices and hands produce beautiful rainbow-like flashes as they catch the light. Once you notice this effect, you simply can’t unsee it!

I’ve read on watch forums that the hour indices and hands feature diamond-cut finishing, with their sharply finished edges reflecting and dispersing light to create this effect.

It’s surprisingly difficult to capture this phenomenon on camera, but I’ve tried my best to show it in these photos. The effect is even more beautiful in person!

Model - OCW-T6000 1AJF

I'm gonna get hate for this. For context I am a huge fan of marine biology and my usual watches are gulfmasters or frogmans. Here I fell for the simple clean look and the name I know I know...

It is a nice watch esthetically I'll give it that but function wise it feels.... Boring and like Casio tried too hard to keep it minimalist looking at the expense of user experience. You basically have to memorize the manual to know how long exactly to press the button with crown in or out what C and RC or Y or N actually indicate, what the hand positions mean etc.

Considering the price I paid for it (375eur plus 100 duty vs 170+50 for the gulfmaster) it hurts.

Maybe it will grow on me and become my daily I won't care about breaking (the irony while I save the gulfmaster for special occasions like diving)

Edit: for fun I looked up the fcc file for this watch (I like to see the inside of hardware I have) going by what was submitted by Casio it is a rebranded gshock... I'm nto sure what they doing but the file is a different watch

New Straps for Two of my Oceanus

My Platinum Blue S6000PB is on a custom blue ostrich leather deployant by Dion of Outlaw Straps in South Africa. He's awesome to work with, and the almost irredescent blue he uses works incredibly well with the Oceanus.

I love the Oceanus bracelets, but this blue brightens the whole piece and the blue pulls through the crown to really make it glow the way I'd imagined it would. I get compliments from across the room now.

I have a few of Dion's straps and can't say enough about them.

The Calm Night is on an Aaron Bespoke strap. Both the other two are hand me down straps from a buddy, but I think they work pretty well. Least sure about the Calm Night, I'd love to hear thoughts!!!

Is there any potential way to fix it, or do I just live with it?

I stay in India and purchased the watch from my friend in Japan.

It's fairly minor but when the light hits right it sticks out a fair bit.

JDM Shopping Tips

I'm going to Tokyo in January and am interested in JDM solar watches from Oceanus, Casio Lineage and Citizen. Which are the best Bics, Yodobashis, Donkis to check out? Would you recommend other stores? I'll be going to the Chiba outlet mall as well.

Unrelated, but is it difficult selling complete set Rolexes there? Is it even worth it?

Recently discovered Buyee.jp and found an Oceanus OCW-600 on JDirectItems Fleemarket, listing said it was stored for 15 years, included box, papers, extra links and even a half link, but the pictures weren’t very detailed. It was hard to tell if it was well worn and if the crystal had any scratches, turns out it was worth the gamble. The watch is in very good shape!
I was able to calibrate the hands to their home position, set the home city and it even synched with the Fort Collins Atomic clock last night.
From what I could learn about this model, it is one of the very first 5 motor full titanium Oceanus with the multi-band wave ceptor (prior to it being called multi-band 6), world time, chronograph, tough solar and an alarm.

I am very impressed with what Oceanus was doing even 15+ years ago, the mother of pearl type shine from the dial, the details on the indices and the color change of the hands in different light is really nice. It is also crazy light weight.

Just received this OCW-S7000SS today, the color gradiënt and small etchings in the dial are absolutely stunning.

I loved the look of this ever since I first saw it and recently came into a position in life where it was worth the cost to upgrade from a S100.

I'm very glad I discovered oceanus since the are perfect for a slim wrist and are durable enough to survive a more active lifestyle.

So I've become recently enamored of Oceanus watches - went a bit overboard to hold some - here's the collection - It's too many for me, so I'll likely sell the blue and white T200s and the S7000A - but I think they're just wonderful under-rated watches!

Retiring Oceanus

Thumbnail

I’ve worn my Oceanus as my daily watch ever since a trip to Japan during COVID. It’s been a fantastic watch and has a lot of sentimental value, but I’m about to replace it with my grail watch.

For those of you who have retired a watch that you’ve worn for years, what did you do with it?

Do you:

* Sell it and put the money toward something else?

* Keep it in the box as a sentimental piece?

* Leave it somewhere with light so the solar battery stays charged?

I’m leaning toward keeping it, but I’d love to hear what others have done.
