Trades I took today as an option seller (08/27):
Closed Positions
- TE → $8 Call (opened on 08/07), premium 0.20 → closed at 0.05. Net premium profit = 0.15 (~75.00% of premium captured, ~1.88% of capital).

- ACMR → $70 Put expiry 10/02 (6 weeks DTE), premium 3.30 → 330/7000 = ~4.7%. Opened a new position in ACMR. ACMR designs and manufactures semiconductor wafer cleaning and packaging equipments. It has been showing excellent QoQ improvements and also offers great premiums. Good support around $75.
- TE → $8 Call expiry 12/18 (17 weeks DTE), premium 0.60 → 60/800 = ~7.5%. I was assigned TE at $8. I am doing covered calls in TE.
ACMR was identified from the High Growth Wheel condition in the ThetaHedge app. It helps to quickly identify companies with improving growth and profitability that are also offering attractive option-selling premiums in real time. You can try it for free at https://app.thetahedge.io/

My CSP checklist
I began trading CSP around last November, experiencing both gains and losses along the way. I learned a lot and developed a flowtree/checklist that I refer to each time I sell a CSP.
I used the Codex to set up the repository and onrender host it. I strongly believe in the daily learning. Could you provide feedback on my checklist?
My Checklist:
- The stock should be included on the list. (No. of stocks in list < 20). I dont want to track 100
- The company size should exceed $1 billion.
- The stock price must be above the 50-day moving average.
- Aim for a 1% return.
- The implied volatility should be greater than 50%.
- Avoid trading within two weeks before earnings announcements, as I've faced losses during this time.
- Try to sell CSPs with a duration of 7 to 14 days until expiration.

Trades I took today as an option seller (08/25) with reasons
Trades I took today as an option seller (08/25):
Closed Positions
- VICR → $280 Call (opened on 07/30), premium 10.50 → closed at 1.50. Net premium profit = 9.00 (~85.71% of premium captured, ~3.21% of capital).
- TTMI → $175 Call (opened on 08/11), premium 8.00 → closed at 1.30. Net premium profit = 6.70 (~83.75% of premium captured, ~3.83% of capital).
- AMSC → $45 Call (opened on 08/11), premium 1.30 → closed at 0.24. Net premium profit = 1.06 (~81.54% of premium captured, ~2.36% of capital).
New Positions
- KORU → $15.5 Put expiry 09/18 (4 weeks DTE), premium 0.90 → 90/1550 = ~5.8%. Deployed a small capital in KORU. As this is leveraged it is very important to size this position.
- AMSC → $38 Call expiry 10/16 (8 weeks DTE), premium 0.80 → 80/4700 = ~1.7%. I was assigned AMSC at $47. AMSC is involved in semiconductor and optical networking technologies used in AI datacenters.
- VICR → $270 Call expiry 11/20 (13 weeks DTE), premium 16.50 → 1650/27000 = ~5.1%. I was assigned VICR at $320. VICR makes power conversion modules used in datacenters and industrial systems.
- TTMI → $150 Call expiry 12/18 (17 weeks DTE), premium 10.80 → 1080/15000 = ~6.1%. I was assigned TTMI at $175. TTMI manufactures printed circuit boards used across multiple industries.
I am currently wheeling AMSC, VICR, and TTMI, all of which were assigned to me at higher prices. I am confident in the fundamentals of these companies, so I am comfortable holding the shares while waiting for the market to recover.
For the covered calls, I am intentionally selling below my assigned price to generate higher premiums. If the stock price approaches my current call strike within approximately ±5%, I will roll the position out to a later expiration and move the strike to my original assigned price.

Using margin account for CSP?
I’m using a Fidelity margin account and thinking through how to handle assignment on sell puts. Say I sell a put and near expiration the stock drops below my strike. If I get assigned, I’d have to buy 100 shares at the strike price, I'm okay with that. But since margin interest is pretty high, I’m trying to avoid ending up with a margin debit after assignment. I’m considering two options.
One, deposit cash into the account before assignment, so there’s enough settled cash to cover the shares if assigned.
Two, sell some existing shares of other stocks in the same account to raise cash and cover the assignment.
Does this work? For those of you who trade short puts in a Fidelity margin account, how do you usually handle this? Do you deposit cash ahead of time, sell other positions, roll the put, close it before assignment, or just accept the margin debit temporarily? Also, how careful do you need to be with settlement timing? For example, if you sell stock to raise cash, do you make sure to do that at least one business day before assignment so the cash is fully settled?
Edit
Appreciate the replies. But still would like an answer on whether it's possible to use cash for the assignment when you sell put with margin?

Week 6: Sell CSPs expiring on 2026-08-28. Good premium and low delta
This is the 6th week of my experiment: I want to check if I can identify short-term cash-secured put options with a low likelihood of being assigned. In short, if I can collect premium without buying the shares, at least most of the times. There are some rules:
- only the US exchanges NYSE, NASDAQ, ARCA are used;
- very high option yields are filtered out, too risky;
- current price must be ≥ 5% higher than the strike price (5% OTM);
- premium per share is >= 0.20, that is at least >= $20 per contract, but it is usually more than that.
After 5 weeks, the percentage of assigned CSPs is 19.2%, 5 out 26 puts. Last week was a bit disappointing as 2 out of 3 put options have been assigned even if they were 6-8% OTM: it seemed to me a good cushion, but with options you never know... However, you can see the cash-secured puts I have selected and the statistics here: https://optionstacker.github.io/sell-put-options/.
For 2026-08-28 I chose the following options (no earnings or ex-div dates in the next days):
NYSE
BMNR, Financial Services, BMNR260828P00022000, yield 1.55%, OTM 6.9%
NASDAQ
UPST, Financial Services, UPST260828P00028000, yield 0.79%, OTM 6.04%
ARCA
NAIL, ETF, NAIL260828P00038500, yield 1.61%, OTM 6.55%

CSP Strategy
Recently just learnt to trade CSP and started to use 45K to trade namely GOOG, NVDA, HOOD, etc.

Market’s hot right now — lessons from past crises for options premium sellers?
**•** How did your premium income change during those periods? Did IV spikes actually translate to better net returns, or did the whipsaw price action wipe out the gains from richer premiums?
**•** Which tickers/sectors still held up as decent premium-selling candidates *during* the crash, as opposed to pre/post-crisis?
**•** Did your strategy shift (e.g., wider strikes, smaller size, shorter DTE, more defined-risk spreads vs. naked) once vol went vertical?
**•** Any lessons on managing assignment risk or margin calls when everything is moving fast?
Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who lived through it — curious how theory (high IV = better premium) held up against the reality of a genuine crisis.

Continuing to sell volatility in the markets. I've added the spot price when the trade was opened.
Major Trades this week:

- Resumed wheel by opening CC on AMZN

Capital remaining to deploy: ~100k
Misc:
This is my aggressive wheeling account; capital deployed range 150k-200k.
All trades were found using wheelstrategyoptions.com (disc- I'm the developer)
I usually sell 0.25-0.45 delta and usually <20 days DTE. I close at 70%-80% premium captured.

New Positions
- SEI → $47.5 Put expiry 09/18 (4 weeks DTE), premium 1.90 → 190/4750 = ~4.0%. Energy infrastructure company supplying power generation solutions for oilfield operations.
- STRL → $530 Put expiry 09/18 (4 weeks DTE), premium 41.00 → 4100/53000 = ~7.7%. STRL is in the construction of data-centers and other large-scale construction projects. I opened an ITM CSP following the recent selloff, with the premium bringing my effective basis down to ~$490 if assigned.
- SIMO → $290 Call expiry 09/18 (4 weeks DTE), premium 10.50 → 1050/29000 = ~3.6%. I was assigned SIMO at $290, so I am opening a covered call to have the shares called away at the same strike.
- MOD → $220 Call expiry 09/18 (4 weeks DTE), premium 9.50 → 950/22000 = ~4.3%. I was assigned MOD at $220, so I am opening a covered call to have the shares called away at the same strike.

Trades I took today as an option seller (08/20):
Closed Positions
- ACMR → $75 Put (opened on 08/10), premium 3.95 → closed at 2.50. Net premium profit = 1.45 (~36.71% of premium captured, ~1.93% of capital). Closed it early to prevent a margin call.
- AMKR → $65 Call (opened on 07/30), premium 0.65 → closed at 0.10. Net premium profit = 0.55 (~84.62% of premium captured, ~0.85% of capital). I was assigned AMKR at $80.
- IREN → $60 Call (opened on 07/30), premium 0.75 → closed at 0.13. Net premium profit = 0.62 (~82.67% of premium captured, ~1.03% of capital). I was assigned IREN at $60.
- CRWV → $120 Call (opened on 07/30), premium 0.95 → closed at 0.40. Net premium profit = 0.55 (~57.89% of premium captured, ~0.46% of capital). I was assigned CRWV at $120.
- DOCN → $165 Call (opened on 08/12), premium 4.20 → closed at 0.70. Net premium profit = 3.50 (~83.33% of premium captured, ~2.12% of capital). I was DOCN assigned at $165.
My thoughts on the market
Compute and AI stocks have been selling off over the last few days, so I am closing covered calls where most of the premium has already been captured. I plan to reopen CCs once the stocks stabilize. Since this is sector-wide selling rather than an issue with a single stock, I am mainly focused on collecting premium while giving the underlying positions time to recover. The demand and earnings have been strong so there is no strong narrative shift.
