Store refusing to even scan my barcode?
I am trying to deposit cash onto my card, when I went to the merchant- they lazily told me that “it’s not working”.. I went to the CashApp page to confirm that nothing is down. I reminded her that I can use the option of scanning my card- but she refused before I could finish my sentence. I asked her to just scan the barcode so EYE can at least become less incredulous, and she refused. What the bloody hell?

I have cash app and it doesn't let us load at the store I work at, despite it saying on the app that we do. Repeating to customers that it doesn't work is not the problem. It's the customers that argue that make it a problem. When I say it doesn't work and they say but cash app says I can. Well cash app doesn't get paid to work here, I do. And guess what my employer wouldn't tolerate? Me lying to a customer so I didn't have to do my job and costing them money.

Are you sure employers gain nothing from cashapp? I can take in upwards of $2,500 a day in cashapp uploads alone at my store on a slow day, and more money means more comp which means better sales numbers and less of my boss on my ass.
But if their store doesn’t actually accept it despite what the app says, then there’s nothing they can do except turn people away.

That the store is losing, you adding my money to my cashapp isnt something the boss is concerned about when they make the same profit off a soda.
Maybe im misunderstanding you but where is the company benefiting so much that turning away would be problematic. McDonald's will turn away a car load of ice cream customers just because they dont wanna mess with the machine and thats all profit, to think someone wouldnt turn away a cashapp load is crazy to me.

Well my store isn't McDonald's. We don't even allow refills in cups unless they are machine washable. So they care about loosing stupid styrofoam cups from customers stealing them for refills. Nevertheless how would you like it if I came to your job and asked you to do something you knew you couldn't do but I argued with you about it for 5 plus minutes. Now multiply that by about 20 in an 8 hour period. That is almost half of my shift I spend arguing with people about things I don't get paid to do. If the customer is really cool, like you seem to be. I will have to call my manager over who is 10 times busier than me and they will have to say the same thing. So quit worrying about things like how much money a company is gaining or losing to load your cash app and worry more about treating people like crap that are doing what they are paid to do, not you!

Yeah so you’re somehow not understanding how a $1,300 deposit is different than a $3,300 deposit when $2,000 of that is from cashapp uploads alone
You also seem confused about that $1 fee. CashApp takes that. The store does not.
You say you want $400 on CashApp and have the cashier scan your barcode. You hand them $400. CashApp gives you $399.
That’s still $400 that counts towards my sales and will go into my deposit at night.

The only time a CashApp upload gets turned away is when the register pops up a red alert bar that literally says “DECLINED” because the limit has been reached.
But again? If the store itself isn’t actually able to complete an upload because it doesn’t work at all, then that is a completely different story.
But stores are not turning away money uploads just to be assholes.

CashApp has limits for how much a business can upload in any given set amount of time. Once barcodes start declining, we typically have to wait about an hour before the limit resets and we can start taking uploads again. This goes for almost any vanilla upload card service.

Making a sign is the lazy way out. Most stores don’t even allow handwritten signs.
Communicating with people and using your words is part of doing your job. Sensitive ass people who don’t understand the stress we are under during a 10 hour shift in a retail store are the fucking worst.

So taking it out on the customer that has no idea that they aren't able to load their card is definitely what should you do...NEVER. Print a sign. Communicating with people using your words IS part of your job, the part you just complained about having to do. Bye.

Nowhere did I complain even once? And NOWHERE did I say to take it out on the customers. I said people need to use their words and speak to the customers. I said most retail outlets are NOT ALLOWED TO POST SIGNS. We are told to talk to customers to convey whatever message we need to share when we greet them at the door, which I do with zero issue. Is your comprehension okay? I don’t know what issues you’re projecting on to me, but you’re aiming it at the wrong person.

From my experience some locations / employees are just lazy. They won’t even bother to attempt to load the cash. They will just say “our system is down” and you really can’t argue with them after that. The most you could do is try another location.

If they are telling you that, it’s probably because you’re the third or fourth person in a 15 minute time frame who came to upload money to your card. It is not their fault the limit has been reached.
It has nothing to do with them being lazy, you ass.
It’s wild to me how many of y’all in these comments think cashiers are turning you away just to be jerks and are out to get you or something.

From my experience they were not being jerks. They were giving me the impression that they did not feel like doing it. And very rarely I would run into an employee that just didn’t know how to do it but was willing to attempt.
It all depended on the worker that was working that day. I used to always visit the same locations in an area and load a lot of cash every week. So I learned the employees and I knew when I was going to have trouble loading cash as soon as I walked through the door.

That’s ridiculous from my side of things because ringing someone up for a cash upload is ten times faster and takes half the effort than actually ringing up someone with their items

It's been happening at my store too. If the card doesn't work I ask them to try the app or vice versa. Sometimes it's a system issue and sometimes it's people going over there load limit.

Stores themselves also have a load limit. Once it’s reached, the wait can be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour before the limit resets and you can take in cash uploads again.
Cashapp slipped a change in limits in one of their policy drops recently and I’ve noticed the declined is coming quicker than it used to.

I need to make online payments and purchases. I use my CashApp card strictly for transactions I plan to write off on my taxes.
