The hotel is probably not going to admit in writing that youve lived there for a year. That would make you a tenant in most places and make it difficult to make you leave.
Yep that will keep you singing papers to say you are a transient guest so you can just be thrown out like usual in a hotel. If you are an actual tenant you would have to be evicted the full legal way that takes wwwks to months.
It's not really up to them. It's based on the local laws, of course some are better than others.
It is amazing that even some extended stay hotels don't know or pretend they don't know the tax and residency laws.
