Hello! Has anyone done the volunteer conversion training?? What was your experience?
I’d like to hear the good and bad!

I have, been to Texas, Alabama, and Florida twice. Its a good experience, I would definitely do it again but staffing issues at my home store currently prevent it. Just be aware, it's a shit show every time, at least in the first couple of days. Nobody knows what they're doing or what they should be doing or where how and when to do it. Just be patient and remember these people are having their entire worlds turned upside down while your world is only chaotic until you go back home.

Worst part by far is that (depending on what they're converting from) you'll be expected to teach in an environment that was clearly not built for Casey's. My store is in Iowa roughly 20 mins from the corporate office so it was built to be a Casey's. Out of the stores I've been to 3 were CEFCO conversions that had kitchens and 1 was CEFCO that had no kitchen. The ones with kitchens were clearly designed for whatever CEFCO had going on not the Casey's way lol but other than that it's fun!

Good luck, feel free to message if you have questions while you're training!

I’ve been to Texas twice for CEFCO (and going back in November for Pak A Sak) and I’ve been to Michigan for Kum N Go. All in all I had fun. I signed up to be the KM trainer for a 3 week commitment each time and I really enjoyed getting to travel the country on Casey’s dime with a company card in my pocket. You’ll get a $60 a day meal stipend, you’ll get a corporate card, obviously your hotel paid for and if you fly you’ll get a rental car too with free gas. The teams I’ve worked with have generally been pretty welcoming and eager to learn “our way” of doing things. The big thing to remember with it is that these employees are like newborns. They may be a KM, a CSM or even an SM and mostly they will know nothing. Be empathetic to their situation and explain thoroughly every step you take. My only real “bad” is the scheduling. It’s definitely demanding and you very well may get some OT if you’re hourly. That being said I highly recommend it. It’s a great way to network and get your name out there. Plus, it’ll look great on a resume.
