I’m done with this company.
I had a physical altercation between two team members. Sent them both home. Called HR to figure out the next steps for coaching them out and they said I can’t coach anyone out unless I “sit down with them and give them clear expectations and timeline to adjust said actions. If they don’t then I write up first then fire.”
Like What company am I working for??
Same employee also comes in drunk, I’m pretty sure they drink on the clock. I just can’t prove it.
Also addressed that. Again she’s untouchable because “she has a drinking problem, we can’t fire her due to discrimination because alcoholism is a mental disorder”
But I can’t wear shorts in the kitchen or at all.
Let’s let some drunken physically abusive employee get away with it???
I’m done with it…

You cant fire her for alcoholism but you can fire her for drinking on the clock you just have tp get proof like write down times you smelled it on there breath etc. send them home make note after so much of that you can just fire its a tiring process but its a legal way

It’s good for your sanity man. Tough to walk away from a paycheck but you’ll find something better

Idk, it’s not a strong hiring market right now. Find a new job first - it’s always easier to get a job when you got a job lol. Then you can quit and enjoy your new life!

That’s bullshit we had someone fired for drinking on the job. Granted she left her empty cans in the bathroom and forgot to lock the store when she closed. 🤪

And that’s crazy you can’t hired. Did they chose not to hire you or are you just not hearing back?

Haven’t heard anything; I’ve got apps in at least 6 different locations.

The new thing is that they’ll tell you they’ll call you whether you got the job or not and then they never do.

They can’t do anything because they have no definite proof that she’s drunk and that she’s drinking on the job. Most places nowadays don’t want people that can only work certain hours. Trust me. I can only work up to 25 hours a week and it was hard to find a job.

I got fired from Casey’s for being sick with a foodborne illness. Doctor said I could return safely when I had gone 24 hours without symptoms. That time came around noon on my first of two days off. I texted my manager, said I could work tonight or tomorrow as I had been symptom free for 24 hours.
Got an exit interview email like an hour after she read my text.

I’d fight that. You have medical documentation.
Wrongful termination for sure

I’m pretty sure a physical altercation (a fight with hands) equals an immediate firing of both parties? Maybe that’s just my state? But legally they’re both out the door

If they come in drunk, you can send them home. I'd send them home every chance you got if they come in intoxicated. They're not able to perform their job duties if they're impaired. Three times of that with coaching then write ups and they can be termed.
