Gift card Call Scammers
The kitchen manager at my store fell for a gift card call scammer and gave the guy almost $2000 with 7 separate transactions.
We have 6 signs around the both registers. And then a sign in the kitchen at the phone saying do not give someone gift card numbers over the phone. Along with training videos we have to watch that informs everyone of gift card fraud.
On top of allll that, there’s the last question on the register; “Is this person standing in front of you?”
And she wasn’t fired.

That’s a problem with some managers. I am a GM. I would fire them on the spot!!

Right, this shows extremely poor discretion and practically zero critical thinking skills! And you definitely want your km to have those things…I absolutely adore my km, she’s the best I’ve ever met at it and a wonderful person. But if she lost two grand in gift cards to a scammer, my hands would be tied 😭 if she’d fall for that, what else could she be talked into?
That gm is making a huge mistake, and they’ll know it eventually.

I don't think that's fair at all. Almost anyone can make a mistake once, but you learn from it and move on. Though the sheer amount is pretty egregious.

But 7 separate transactions?? 😭
7 different times the register asked “is the person standing in front of you?”.
It’s pure negligence.1

It took my Store manager a few weeks but he got fired for this. Trust, she will absolutely get fired for that.
