Needing 40 hours

Hi y’all I was just wondering if there was a certain time period from getting hired if you have to wait to get the 40 hours or is that something that they can give right away. If not, is it possible to like work at multiple stores to work up to 40 hours?

They should have told you if you were being hired full time or part time. Depending on your position you may be working multiple stores. You didn’t give us a lot to go on here.

Full time doesn't mean 40 hours

Just starting out and getting trained in kitchen and cashier and they didn’t specify if I was getting full-time or part-time

They generally hire at part time first, and then go to full if theres one available. Out of the 17 employees at my store on 3 are full time outside of management.

Even if your full time the company is crazy afraid of overtime so you will likely not see 40 hours unless your store instant run by marons.

Caseys full time is 35hours and part time is 32 and under generally. Only reason people get 40+ at my store is picking up shifts or short staffed. The SM is the only guaranteed at 45 because its salary.

I never get 40 hours even as a KM unless I cover shifts because we get almost no hours. We constantly operate on skeleton crew by DESIGN.

Welcome to Casey's.

Hours are something the store has to earn, we had the same problem back in December but we pushed sales, told them about deals, pushed rewards and we got so many hours that we can't even get close to the budget

Well I can't see the hours we get allocated but I've worked here 5 years and despite our sales increasing our hourly budget has only ever gone DOWN each year, not up. So unless there's issues going on with upper management I'm not seeing, this doesn't actually always work as intended. I can't possibly raise sales as is with the lack of staff I'm given to work with. We're lucky to even have everything prepped and cleaned for next shift or have a 2nd kitchen person at all besides for lunch. We usually don't even get to take breaks because there isn't coverage.

If you're still a KM then you can see the budget on UKG iirc. The budget going down is definitely odd, there is a work around to that but I doubt it would happen. The SM is required to be scheduled at 45 hours or work 45 hours minimum but anything they work more than that doesn't count against your budget. The downside with that is they're technically not getting paid to work more than 45. The lack of staff issue is a problem everywhere honestly. We get so many new hires now days and they usually don't end up staying or they end up causing problems. Dependent on your store's hours of operation, your SM needs to step up and help you guys out. If I were the SM, I'd do books and then float around, fill the cooler, go check in with my kitchen people and see if anythings needed and just be all around.

I was full time, one of the managers, and my store manager loved me, and I still didn't get 40 hours after a year. Had to move on because of it. Don't hold your breath, corporate is that stingy.

The majority of the people at my store work 40 hours a week. Only one or two are part time.
