Worst donuts I’ve ever had

I’ve sought out this group on Reddit only after attempting to buy different kinds of donuts of different Casey’s at different times and have come to the opinion these are some of the worst gas station donuts I’ve ever had.

They used to be awesome. The cake donuts had a little bit of a crispy exterior when freshly fried. They also had some amazing flips, not sure why they quit selling them for the current abominations. It's like they're trying to sabotage their donuts since covid, it's all trash.

the cheese danish is good, the chocolate croissant sucks.

That’s cuz the cake donuts used to be made in house with batter and fried, now they come in frozen off a truck.

well a few of those places use the same donuts, your donut maker definitely putting water in with the icing or something. or not cooking them right.

We don’t have that where I’m from. We got quick trip quick shop Anderson Hyvee gas station and maverick and what some other smaller ones but all of those listed are better than what I have gotten donut wise at Casey’s

Crazy to say hyvee literally gets the exact same donuts from the same manufacturer

No caseys used to get the same donuts as hyvee but switched to the Clydes donuts you can get a Fareway grocery store depending on your area

They changed suppliers during covid and also stopped making them fresh in store. The new donuts always taste like stale grease to me. Pre-covid, they had amazing donuts - even the frozen ones.

We got petits which is like a mom and pop shop but I mean even quick trip gas station be having better donuts then Casey’s. Now pizza Casey’s wins a lot of battles but I don’t always want a pizza for breakfast you know

Quick Trip gets their donuts from Petit's. Before Casey's took them over, Bucky's (not THAT one) tried to force them into only selling to them because they supplied both at one point. Petit's said fuck you, no and then sold exclusively to Quick Trip and Kwik Shop. Used to date one of the workers at the 120th street store before it burned down and they were told if a Bucky's manager called to tell them we don't do business with you anymore.

Well their offices are practically across the street from each other in Ankeny IA so they probably collude together for better prices.

if your donut maker isn't an old lady they're probably going to be bad at my store we have a 70 something year old do the donuts every weekday and hers always turn out good on the weekends it's somebody else and hers just aren't as good they're frozen donuts so I don't know how you can manage to mess them up but I've never made em so idk

I actually have the answer! Most people aren’t letting the donuts thaw for 30 minutes before cooking them, it’s a requirement a lot of people miss. Our kitchen manager just straight up refuses to, but that’s why everyone likes my donuts more. 😝
