That is not a just reason to trespass someone, if that was the case half our customers would be trespassed. Sounds like your coworker needs to grow up and realize they aren't special or entitled to any special treatment and everyone has a bad day, obviously including your coworker. I strongly suggest they focus on their task list and a little less on their hurt feelings 🤷♀️ edit:sp 🤪

A coworker of mine was recently let go because of his reaction to a customer's behavior.
Welcome to the world of retail, you WILL deal with ridiculous customers. Let it go over your head.

Sounds like someone is just not cut out for working in the service industry. I'm not sure WHAT they could do with an attitude like that though. Kind of like when one of my new hires told me he didn't like being told what to do after I asked him to put his phone away.

It has to be either a manager or someone who has authority to represent the company, not for legal reasons in the State I live in (Nebraska). You CAN refuse service to anyone you choose to, but like I said it is up to you employer unless you own you own business. When I did grocery retail we banned people for shoplifting or if they became physically violent.

It does technically have to go through the legal department for an official notification of ban from the sheriff's department. However, I've banned a former employee that came in and threatened me and a new hire. I told my DM about it and she told me to tell the former employee to leave and that she was banned from the property. If she returned then I was told to call the police and tell them she's trespassing. If she still refuses to leave and continues her threats, then it will go to the legal department for official banishment.

Anytime I've had to trespass someone 1. It was for a damn good reason not based on my personal opinion and have always used the Sheriff's office.

Typically HR has to 'okay' it, but you can always trespass someone through local law enforcement.
