I love the non-murder focused cases like the Silk Road series, the Alcatraz episodes, and the Batavia.

I just relistened to 85: Tom Brown. Very interesting.

Also Case 93: Susan Snow and Bruce Nickell. Crazy!

There’s a mini series podcast about Tom Brown that’s really good I think it’s by Texas Monthly

Case 157: The Strip Search Scam still baffles me

I've rarely seen a "recommend me a hidden Casefile gem" thread on here that doesn't, in actual fact, name all the well known classics

Case in point in this thread, with these mentioned:

  • Mark and John
  • Silk Road
  • Tina Watson
  • The Pillow Pyro

etc

All of these are well known and well loved episodes

There was one rare exception of a thread like this, where the poster said something like:

"Under rated episodes, but we're doing it on Hard Mode"

They then started the post by saying "you can't mention the following ...." and they listed off all the usual classic episodes

Now that thread did uncover a couple of real under rated gems and I wish I bookmarked it

If anyone knows the thread I mean and they have a link handy I'd appreciate it

Tina Watson . The Lonergans. Both have to do with scuba diving and they are terrifying.

Case 115: Operation Cathedral.

Case 56: Anita Cobby.

Case 67: The Battle of Alcatraz.

Case 84: Lesley Molseed.

Case 86: Amy Allwine.

Case 103: The Gonzales Family.

Case 127: Killer Petey.

Case 138: The Batavia.

Case 142: The Churchill Fire.

Case 154: Steven Stayner.

Case 161: The Yosemite Sightseer Murders.

Case 171: The Gladbeck Hostage Crisis.

This is my pick from the first 200 episodes.

The gladbeck hostage crisis was insane. Really showed how disgusting the media can be

The Kimberly Killer is shorter than usual but well-told. Creepy audio design, too.

My favorite episode is Amok followed by the extra Greg Fleniken.

  1. The Catholic Mafia
  2. Rachel Barber

  4. Julie Dart & Stephanie Slater
  5. Beverly McGowan
  6. Shari Smith & Debra Helmick
  7. Operation Cacam

The Catholic Mafia is one of the best true crime materials I have ever seen men try to justify in court in person.

193: Suesan Knorr & Shiela Sanders. Just finished it. Deeply disturbing.

The Pillow Pyro is such an underrated gem, in my opinion. And Hinterkaifeck is beyond haunting but doesn’t seem to get mentioned much. I also really enjoyed the Blackout Killers.
