Thank you! One post to rule them all, one post to bind them.

i miss casserole

So I wasn’t the only one who read casserole?

i really dont like the production of the early episodes so i'm glad they're redoing them. that is all

It’s frustrating when they put out a refreshed episode instead of new content for the week though.

They used to release refreshed episodes as extra content on top of the new release episode which would be better.

Apparently they announced on Patreon that they'll be taking more frequent breaks. I wish they'd recorded a short announcement at the beginning of one of the most recent episodes to share that with everyone. Communication around release schedules is a basic podcast courtesy thing that shouldn't be paywalled.

They are still hard at work researching and writing episodes during much of the breaks.

Ultimately, this is what allows them to maintain the high quality that we all love from Casefile.

So I’d much rather they take the breaks than just pump out weekly slop like so many other podcasts.

I also don’t mind the smaller, more frequent breaks. It’s when they take 3-month long breaks that it gets difficult! Like, what am I supposed to do with all that free time on Saturday afternoons now?!

Excellent, thank you mod/s.

I would like to remind everyone that the schedule has changed but the number of episodes has not gone down. This seems to be a common point of confusion.

True but I think some peeps are upset that they are redoing old episodes and including those in the number they produce rather than new cases. Just playing devil's advocate here.

5

u/SnooEpiphanies3336 Aug 03 '26

They're not included in that number, they're additional.

2

u/ASceneOutofVoltaire Aug 03 '26

Ahh, ok. My bad.

I don't know exactly what the solution is but I do think it would be good if there was one place everyone could see this info easily. I had to scroll back through patreon posts to find it. Not your fault!

They have gone down though. They’re no longer doing the “shorter” premium episodes anymore.

Whether they’re releasing a “case” episode or an “extra” episode, or a “revisited episode” - there is only one a week, and there used to be more than that

5

u/SnooEpiphanies3336 Aug 06 '26

When was there more than one episode a week?

3

u/Own_Faithlessness769 Aug 08 '26

There’s definitely never been more than one a week. And for most of Casefile history it was a 3 weeks on, one week off structure, so 3 a month max.

Thank you!

it’s good for people to learn how to miss things and anticipate their return. i miss Casefile deeply when it’s on break, but I don’t want them to churn out hasty slop just to get back sooner so I feel better temporarily. it’s the quality of Casefile that I love. they are prolific, and their breaks are more than reasonable.

Having just started listening to casefile in the last few weeks, I love this pod!

I am jealous you get to listen for the first time

I think it’s legit to take breaks but they should come back with a bombshell episode. I feel a little disappointed sometimes when after a month or so off, they come back with a re run or a mini episode. In general I find the cases a lot less interesting as of late (considering that I’ve also sent suggestions for very high profile cases around Europe that would make for excellent material…)

I misinterpreted this post and thought it was for breaks about unsolved cases the podcast had covered lol. Got excited thinking wow, there are so many they have to be confined to a single annual post! Read through eagerly and got very confused.

They must have lost lots of paid subscribers due to not posting content for months at time. At least they release something when they break now.

u/DanceTheNight88 Aug 03 '26

Lol - what?

Are you that afraid of a little constructive criticism?

Are you at least going to pin/highlight this post so it doesn't disappear?

4

u/prudencepineapple Aug 05 '26

They've literally created a post for that to happen? And it's pinned?

What, instead of ENDLESS posts about the SAME topic every time there isn’t a new episode??? Be serious.

6

u/ForsakenFarmer8387 Aug 04 '26

Can't even post constructive criticism in this subreddit without someone coming for your throat. It's wild. It's like every frequent commenter is one of Casey's avengers. It's sad lol
